CSD[edit]

Please have a look at WP:CSD. Don't list articles that don't fall under the criteria listed there as speedy deletion candidates. --fvw* 04:36, 2005 Jan 1 (UTC)

Thanks for looking at my speedy deletion request for Grey court school so quickly. I did read the CSD beforehand and it was not clear to me that the page in question did not qualify for speedy deletion. I notice that the redirect page is still there. Its name is just a duplicate of the main article Grey Court School and the redirect clutters things up. I am fairly new to WP and would appreciate your guidance on how to go about requesting its deletion.

--Etimbo 14:44, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I just realised case changes should probably fall under the misspelling CSD rules for redirects, so it was in fact a speedy deletion candidate. My apologies for that. I'm not sure it should be deleted however, generally the obvious differently-cased redirects are kept to avoid article duplication. If I link to Grey court school in an article, without the redirect the link would be red and someone might click it and create a new article, duplicating that one that already exists. We've got lots of casing-redirects laying around, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. In the general case redirects that aren't speedies go on Redirects for Deletion.
I enjoyed seeing grey court come up in recent changes though, I have two brothers who went there; A little after your time though. Have a happy new year! --fvw* 16:57, 2005 Jan 1 (UTC)

Oh, I see you haven't even had a standard welcome template yet, how rude of us. There's some useful info in there, might be interesting if you haven't seen it:

standard welcome template begins here

Welcome!

Hello, Etimbo, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Duplicate articles[edit]

Hi, if one or the other of those articles ever gets written, the two pages can be made to show the same article using a redirect. Joe D (t) 20:22, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Sea Sickness[edit]

G'day Etimbo,

Thanks for the great work on Sea-sickness. I had spotted it as a new page, and had decided that while it definitely needed attention, however I was rather tired at the time from travelling the day before, and simply added the appropriate attention tags. I'm very very pleased to see that the article was cleaned up so quickly, and to such a high standard as well. Thank-you very much.

All the very best,

--PJF (talk) 04:11, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, I'd already seen it. Don't worry about reverting people who put obvious POV or nonsense into an article, and don't bother to discuss it in Talk: first, or don't even bother to explain their edits with an edit summary. Jayjg | (Talk) 00:04, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I approved your changes. In the article Edward Bransfield the word discovered does not seem odd for me. But it will seem more than odd for me if it appear on the Main Page once again. I'm trying to be more or less objective (maybe sometimes unsuccessfully :-)) Good luck! Cmapm 22:39, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I have changed your cat from Schools in Surrey to Schools in London because strictly speaking Grey Court School is in Greater London and not within the boundaries of the county of Surrey. I hope that's OK. Cheers. --Etimbo | Talk 12:01, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Oh yeah, that's fine. I was just attempting to move it out of the "schools" or "education" category where I found it and into a subcategory. Sorry if I picked the wrong one. Cheers.--BaronLarf 12:19, Feb 8, 2005 (UTC)

Voting in the standard manner[edit]

If you vote "support", it is unclear whether you are supporting the page's existence or the deletion nomination, and it makes it difficult for administrators to tally the votes. Use one of the standard votes listed at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion phrases instead, and your vote will be clear to all. Uncle G 13:55, 2005 Feb 11 (UTC)

I asked the question about whether or not the image was notable (though I'm not the anonymous IP who deleted it). Just it occurred to me that this view is not particularly identified with the Cotswolds (or for that matter an open top car) I saw the same view lying on top of a narrowboat on the Llangollen Canal. football[edit]

The Victorian Rules folk are trying to claim that Aussie Rules is an Australian variety of the game when it is very distinctly a Victorian variation of football and was codified in Victoria many years before the beginning of Australia. If you share the same opinion I would love for you to come to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Football and give your opinion.

All the best

I'm glad you made a page for him! How did you hear about him?

Guslacerda 19:15, 23 June 2006 (UTC);[reply]

Hi Etimbo He's one of the few creative geniuses who I have the pleasure of knowing, but less famous than he should be. His website is also modest. Therefore I was very surprised to find him. Why did you think he was worth an article? Are you familiar with his academic work? Guslacerda 23:04, 24 June 2006 (UTC);[reply]

Image move[edit]

I saw your message here.[1] Do you still want it moved to a new title?--Dakota 02:03, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The best solution would be to re-upload it under the desired name. There does not seem to be an Image:Desert island.jpg so you could upload the original under that name so I can delete the older version to prevent duplication before. Let me know anytime. I will be online a little while longer right now.--Dakota 19:11, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wes Platt[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Wes Platt, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Educational film[edit]

I've nominated Educational film, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Educational film satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Educational film and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Educational film during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. BPMullins | Talk 18:23, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Council for a living world[edit]

The deleted content can be found at User:Etimbo/living world. It was deleted as a prod, which means it is undeletable on request. Please add {{db-userreq}} to the top of the user sub page when you are done with it so that it can be deleted. Cheers. Spartaz Humbug! 17:48, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect of Otherspace[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Otherspace, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Otherspace is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Otherspace, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 00:01, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Etimbo! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 971 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Fred Landman - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:Bald Eagle at National Birds of Prey Centre, United Kingdom.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! File permission problem with File:Black Rhinoceros.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Black Rhinoceros.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  ★  Bigr Tex 23:49, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
