Gay characters in video and computer games[edit]

It might benefit if you read the tutorial. My apologize if my editing is conflicting with yours, but I'm trying to make all attempts to clean up the article. -- AllyUnion (talk) 09:26, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your helping in cleaning up the article. I will try and read more of the tutorial -- I read about half of it before I started but I have 56k dial up that is shaky so I often have a hard time staying online for long periods of time to read an online tutorial. Do you have an interest in video and computer games?

User page[edit]

It is felt that the article you created at Edward TJ Brown is not suitable for a Wikipedia article, which must have a notable subject and be verifiable. I have moved it to User:Browned, which is where users are free to write about themselves. You are at liberty to move it back into the (Main) namespace but bear in mind that if you do so, it is likely to be nominated for deletion.

Note, however, that the purpose of a user page is to enable active editors of Wikipedia to introduce themselves to other editors. Wikipedia is not a general hosting service, so your user page is not a personal homepage. Content unrelated to Wikipedia or its editing is likely to be removed.

Please see the user page guidelines, especially this section for more information. -- RHaworth 06:49, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:B horner.jpeg[edit]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:B horner.jpeg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hey Browned! Welcome, and I hope you enjoy yourself here at Wikipedia. I just read some of your comments at Talk:Clay Aiken, and I am glad you made them. However, you signed your name by typing (Browned). There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but there's a better, easier way for you to do an auto-signature. If you type four tildes in a row ~~~~ (like this), it'll automatically fill out your username and a time and datestamp, so that other editors know when you left your message. Thanks! · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 21:29, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One other small thing. Wikipedians typically expect new comments to come at the bottom of a section, so you should make sure to add a new comment to the bottom of any given section, or else it's likely to get lost. · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 21:32, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments. I still am confused about how to add my signature to my comments. Browned.

Image copyright problem with Image:RiseofTheDragon.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:RiseofTheDragon.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 13:20, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Please do; it's official Wikipedia policy. Unsourced material, particularly when presented in an inflammatory manner (such as identifying someone as a crime suspect), creates potential legal issues for the encyclopedia. Since you appear otherwise to be a productive editor, you need to be aware that repeated violation of this policy is considered vandalism. Be bold in your edits, but take care with them. :) RadioKirk talk to me 23:23, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I will be sure to continue to be more productive in my contributions to Wikipedia. I am sorry, but I never been able to sign my name properly. ((unsigned|Browned)).
It depends on your keyboard. The tilde (~) is usually near the top left, directly to the left of the "1" key. If so, it'll type "`" without the shift on, and "~" with shift. Type four of those (~~~~) and your signature automatically appears when saved. Happy editing! RadioKirk talk to me 20:41, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Condi Rice Article[edit]

Hello, Dear Browned. I have reviewed some of your other work and it looks really good, but I would encourage you not to add rumours to the Condi Rice article concerning her life. The "source" that you cited it not an acceptable source and it was just a repeat of a malicious rumour. There is no place for these types of rumours in Wikipedia, please refrain from citing or mentioning these rumours. Thank you. -----70.114.205.215 20:35, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I posted a link to a controversy that erupted in 2003 when a comic strip may have implied that she was a lesbian. I feel that the source was valid and that you wrongfully deleted it.

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Friends of Democracy, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Friends of Democracy and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). Notability of Brent Chalem[edit]

A tag has been placed on Brent Chalem, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WebHamster 01:42, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:PhantomOpera.gif[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:PhantomOpera.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Hello!

I struck out a vote you cast at the above discussion. My reason for this action can be found at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion#How to discuss an AfD which states:

  • Please make only one recommendation; if you change your mind, modify your original recommendation rather than adding a new one. The recommended way of doing this is to use strike-through by enclosing a retracted statement between <s> and </s> after *, as in "* Delete Speedy keep".

Since this was your second vote/recommendation, I struck it out and left the first one you made. Feel free to reverse my actions if you’re willing to strike out the first recommendation you made.

Proposed deletion of Liberty Union Party of Minnesota & the Dakotas[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Liberty Union Party of Minnesota & the Dakotas, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

As discussed on talk page, the only source for this article is a Geocities Web site, which includes little if any evidence of real-world activity or meaningful existence. The talk page request for references has gone unanswered for a few weeks.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -David Schaich Talk/Cont 17:35, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Sims.jpeg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Sims.jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:25, 17 July 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. +Angr 07:25, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of post-Ellen American television episodes with LGBT themes. You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
