Spectral data

Dear user Deglr6328, I've got a similar request to the previous poster. For science purposes, we would need the fairly accurate emission spectra of several types of light source, and we are not physicists who can easily measure them ourselves. You have changed the shock wave to its erroneous state. I know that you like to vandalize. Look it is not proper to vandalize, you have very little knowledge of shock wave or compressible flow. Perhaps you should read my book before try to edit my parts. You should read my remarks in the talk section before you make any changes. polycarbonate NIR spectrum - sample thickness?

Deglr6328,

This is my first attempt to do something other than browse/view Wikipedia content, so please be kind. I have a comment regarding the NIR absorbance spectrum for polycarbonate, and this comment may apply to other spectra you have contributed. In the polycarbonate spectrum, the vertical axis is % transmission, but no pathlength/material thickness figure is given. Hence, this is really a relative absorbance spectrum. If the path length is available, it would be really useful if it were indiccated on the spectrum.

Cool I'm so glad the information was of use to you! I used a pair of plastic saftey goggles from UVEX to get that transmittance spectrum. Here they are [1]. I have been disturbed by the streak of people I run into on the internet and real world, so my curiosity makes me want to meet another wikipedia editor. My edits have always been anonymous, and I study neuroscience, organic chemistry, and physics for the most part. My aim/aol mail is priestknowledge... I've been at a loss for how to enact my beliefs as of late, and I haven't been able to find those of like mind. I'm wondering what your life experiences are like for comparison. If you created the image yourself (and I suspect that's probably the case), just say so on the image description next to your "yummy but deadly" comment. The big problem with HiPER is a lack of outside refs, because the ones I used were sent to me directly by one of the primary investigators. Under normal conditions this would be be a good thing, but... If you have any refs from the print world that would help. Hafnium

Dear Sir, I am intrigued by your hafnium photograph. I work on zirconium and titanium alloys, and occasionnaly on hafnium. Actually, I find the patterns displayed by the colours very interesting. Could you tell me more about the history of the material used for this picture ? Do the colours have their origin in an oxide layer formed at high temperature, and do you know if the lump has been heated over the allotropic transformation temperature (ca. 1750 °C) ? The lump has been heated to liquification and I suspect the colors are created by thin oxide (or nitride?) layers that formed on the surface when it was taken out of vacuum while still somewhat hot.--Deglr6328 06:54, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Deionised Water

The HiFog system was selected for the protection of the computer equipment (and other valuable assets) at my company. The system is also used in several other locations where non conductivity of the extinguishant is vital. One of the trials of the system was where it was used to protect a High Voltage AC installation (415 volts). I do not know if they have trialled it for higher voltages. One of the main features is that once the extinguishant has discharged, the protected electrical and electronic equipment can be operational again in just a few hours (presumably excluding the bit that actually set it off in the first place). In view of the value of the assets that these systems are now protecting, I can only assume that the suppliers would not make such boasts wrecklessly, because if they are wrong, we would be suing them for billions. Further, nothing here indicates that the image is released under a Creative Commons 2.0 license as you indicated. It states it is under copyright, but used with permission at one Wikipedia article (which I don't think is acceptable - it needs to be released under GDFL, I believe). Hi Deglr6328. You seem to have a lot of interests in common with me, since it happens quite often that I see your name. Anyway, I noticed this edit on glowstick. Please don't leave because of that! I agree that vandalism can be a pain and I wouldn't mind if it were easier to (semi-)block articles, but that's not enough to consider leaving.

Anyway, now that I'm here anyway:

• could you comment on Talk:FASOR (laser physics)?
• did you get around to calibrating your spectrometer for the various spectra that you measured? If you still have the spectra and a calibration file, but find it too much work to make the plots again, I could do that for you, at least for the plots without annotations. I can write a script that reprocesses all data automatically. If you're interested, it might be better to use email. My address can easily be found on a search engine from the info on my user page.

If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. Xenon Flash Lamp article needs work

Hi, I noticed that you have commented in the past on the Xenon Flash Lamp article. I have built many hundreds of flashlamps, and various power supplies for them. After reading that article I feel that it needs some improvement, as some info doesn't make any sense, and one section is almost unreadable. I have proposed some changes, but I would like to get some input from others before I implement them. I'm fairly new a Wikipedia, and not sure how to include things like the references I've listed. I assure you that I created that image on a VCA device and I could easily do another one to prove it. I am afraid Tweedie et. al. and Materials Research Society are in obvious violation of the GFDL. Intensity corrected spectra discrepancy

Regarding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Spectrum_of_blue_flame.png I don't understand why the intensity corrected spectra is different than the uncorrected. In particular, the 510nm peak is significantly attenuated. Is this due to PMT spectral sensitivity? I thought 'corrected' simply meant 'calibrated'. Also, why would 'correction' add noise? Is that curve from a separate measurement, or just the original data multiplied by another curve? The standard sources of diffraction gratings is Horiba http://www.horiba.com/us/en/scientific/products/diffraction-gratings/ (warning, they change names about every two years, also traded under the names of ISA, Jobin Yvon, etc.). Fluorescent spectral diagram

Hi Deglr6328,

I was recently playing with a diffraction grating and decided to take some spectral photos of various lights. The one I took of a cool-white, fluorescent lamp turned out really good. It shows the different peaks very nicely. Upon seeing your diagram of the peaks, I decided to cut a small ribbon from my photo and paste it onto yours, to see how well it lines up with your diagram. Nearly every peak lines up almost perfectly! I thought it looked really good, combining the two, helping the reader to visualize what color the peaks actually are. Of course, because it is your diagram, I wouldn't dare change it without consulting you first. (Not to mention I had to convert it to PNG, because I have no way to edit SVG files.) I do think it adds a nice splash of color to the picture.

If you'd like to see my photo, it is on the Fluorescent lamp page, just above your diagram. If you'd like I could email you a copy of the modification I made. The only difference is that some of the red peaks are in slightly different locations. Zaereth (talk) 21:16, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

I used this exact graph in my comment above, where I added a little strip of color beneath the graph line, showing the varying intensity of each peak. I copy/pasted this from my photo, here, and the peaks match perfectly, from number 2 to number 16. I'm not sure I can publish it on commons without Deglr's permission. Do you remember real source of this picture: File:Bunsen burner.jpg. It seem to be uploaded by you around 2005 and I transferred this to Wikimedia Commons. It was marked as the file produced by NASA therefore PD, but now we have to prove it somehow. I couldn't find this picture trough NASA Images search. Polimerek (talk) 09:43, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
