English on the Internet[edit]

First, welcome once again. You may have noticed your article went to Votes for Deletion. I think it may well be kept as the topic in and of itself is worthwhile. Why don't you go over the page and make it less of a list and more of a history of the topic and then note that you've made the changes on VfD? Add an intro at the beginning briefly going over rise of the internet, prevelance of English etc. plus (this is certainly an interesting topic) resistance to English on-line. Also, you should edit your Userpage and move the comment from user Philip to this talk; it was rude of him to post it there before you had created the page. Welcome to Wikipedia! Firstly, my apologies for leaving a spam notice on your User page. I fully realise I should have left it on your Talk page. It was an error on my part - it was early in the morning and I wasn't paying attention!

I have reverted your links on the AudioBook page. As a general rule, Wikipedia is not a collection of links. Generally, unless they over and above in value for the article, they shouldn't be added IMHO. Otherwise Wikipedia could simply become another catalog of links on the web. If you truly believe they are much better than normal, you can discuss it on the article's Talk page. That's what I think anyway - every decision is reached by consensus and if a majority agree they should be there, that's fine with me. Feel free to drop me a line if you wish. Thanks for uploading Image:William T Powers.jpg. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law. We need you to specify two things on the image description page:

  • The copyright holder, and
  • The copyright status

The copyright holder is usually the creator. If the creator was paid to make this image, then their employer may be the copyright holder. If several people collaborated, then there may be more than one copyright holder. If you created this image, then you are the copyright holder.

Because of the large number of images on Wikipedia, we've sorted them using image copyright tags. Just find the right tag corresponding to the copyright status of this image, and paste it onto the image description page like this: {{TAGHERE}}.

There are 3 basic ways to licence an image on Wikipedia:

  • The copyright holder can also release their work into the public domain. See here for examples.
  • Images from certain sources are automatically released into the public domain. This is true for the United States, where the Wikimedia servers are located. (See here for images from the government of the USA and here for other governments.) However, not all governments release their work into the public domain. One exception is the UK (see here for images from the UK government). Non-free licence governments are listed here.

Gary, please see Talk:Perceptual_control_theory#Conflict_of_Interest. If you announced or signaled your conflict of interest given who you are and what you've published, I didn't see it.
