Pathology atlas[edit]

Wikipedia uses the "external links" section for links of that type. Hi Mihai, thanks for your response. Wikipedia relies on the GFDL, which means that the information is free of copyright issues. Very often, people cut & paste information from websites into Wikipedia, causing copyright issues. We've had angry emails from webmasters that their copyright had been breeched.

I treated your contributions in the same way, for which I extend my apologies. Your work is highly appreciated, but it would be more helpful if it was not an exact copy of the (very nice!) http://www.pathologyatlas.ro.

I was very pleased that you tackled glomerulonephritis. Please stay around and help with Wikipedia. We have too little histopathology information in our articles, so you are most welcome. JFW | T@lk 10:57, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Whew! I was so afraid I made you angry. Sorry again. So I am pathologist, and I saw that this "pathology" chapter is very "slim" in Wiki. And there are alot of "red" internal links. In what consist the copy to much from my pathology atlas, I'd say medicine is that big that you never finish the chapter.

I need help. I think I made a mistake when I started a new article: Hodgkin lymphoma. The category already exists as (Hodgkin's disease). In my oppinion it should be named Lymphoma. Anyway, I removed my text, and I will add it in the existing Hodgkin's disease page. But the Hodgkin lymphoma title still exists, with no content. How to delete it? Is it possible you to do it, please? Thank you. Mihai

Some points[edit]

Mihai, I am truly pleased you are willing to make your contributions to Wikipedia. As we discussed, the project is short on experts in your field.

Some points:

Please check if articles exist on terms you use. For example, carcinoma in situ is an existing article.
Bold text is generally used only in the first instance the page title is used. There are other ways to create sections; please see the manual of style.
Some contributions may be on the technical side. I totally agree that this kind of information is very hard to "dumb down" for the readership, and I also agree the information does belong in an encyclopedia. Please consider giving explanations of important terms in brackets. For example: dyspnea (shortness of breath).

Don't worry. Wikipedia grows on you :-). Most of the stuff I created when I started has been edited mercilessly by others (and myself). What's more, it's enjoyable!

There is no list of nonextant pages. It would be endless. The wiki keeps a record of pages that are often redlinked: Special:Wantedpages.

Well, I saw that many of my adds were removed by you, and I cannot find an explanation for that. I couldn't understand what "rm copyvio" means. Copyrights violation, maybe? I really worked for those adds...

Yes, sorry, that was before you told me that you own the copyright! Of course they can be reverted back: please review Wikipedia:How to revert a page to an earlier version.

Indeed, "copyvio" in Wiki parlance is information that seems to be copied verbatim from elsewhere (books or internet) without a proper permission or reference. Wikipedia:Copyright problems is used for these discussions.

Thanks for your additions! Please keep on your great work. Perhaps we should work on glomerulonephritis together. Do you have any images of IgA nephritis.

Step by step, I'm trying to add not only microscopy but also some words about macroscopy. This will take some more time. I don't have an image with IgA nephropathy, but I'll take some pictures with membranoproliferative GN-is and membranous NPathy, Fiedler myocarditis and others... pathology is huge. Important is when somebody searches for something to find it here (no matter how rare is it). See you. Mihai

Your external links in medical articles[edit]

Dear Mdanciu,

I'm removing external links to the Romanian Pathology Atlas because external links shouldn't be used in the article text, rather in a separate external links section. Even there, external links are to be kept to a minimal (see WP:ELNO for our guideline on external links and when to avoid them). I don't think the Pathology Atlas qualifies as a valid external link; we have plenty of pathology images available on Commons, and the links add little to what a featured Wikipedia article would tell readers.

First of all, please don't take this too personal. Everything can be changed here, and I don't decide anything. I didn't use any special admin tools for this. We only use external links in a section at the bottom of the article. Have a look at WP:ELNO to see what reasoning we use. I noticed that you reverted some of my external link removals, for which I thank you because I haven't had time to go through all the ones I removed yet, just a few ones. I apologize again to you for doing so, and I agree that you restore them if no other pathology images are available, as per our recent discussion at WT:MED. However, I would like to ask you to put external links only in the designated external link section; putting external links in the article text (like this) is a violation of our Manual of style.

Hi Steven! I found some time so I started. Yes, If I see that a microscopical image is already, I won't link mine back (basal cell carcinoma, for instance). I'll learn how to make an EL section. Giant cell in tuberculosis (tuberculous lymphadenitis) is also named Langhans cell (if mature) or Muller cell (if young); this according to Robbins and Kumar.
