Hello ChrisJMoor! You're on WikiVacation apparently. Please take a look at my response in Talk:Jurassic Park. Phlebas 23:51, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Helicopters[edit]

I've put a cutdown version of your question and my answer into helicopter rotor since it is an interesting and frequently-asked question! Benet Allen 16:17, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good Stuff. I have added a notice at the bottom of our dialogue to indicate the action you have taken. The article Helicopter rotor should definitely be kept, btw.--ChrisJMoor 01:55, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Flying the Harrier[edit]

Thank you for your work on this article; as requested, I have a few suggestions!

It reads a bit like a sales brochure - "while the Harrier is one of the most flexible aircraft systems..." can be stripped away in the name of directness. Be blunt. Use short words, and short sentences. They are easier to read and quicker to understand.

  • "aircraft system" (marketingspeak!) = aircraft

" "rotary wing aircraft" (legalspeak!) = helicopter

When you use an acronym like VTOL or STOL, say them in full the first time so a general audience knows what they are. Better still, include a link VTOL and STOL. The whole section could do with more links, and your link to settling with power is broken. It is possible to link to an article with a name which is different to your reference - see the editing help for more information.

I hope this helps - keep up the good work! Benet Allen 13:38, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that. BTW, the RN manual I studied years ago did read like a sales brochure; it was intended to appeal to naive cadets (potential recruits) like me that were fed up with driving vehicles that only went along the ground and did not have heat seeking missiles. On that note, have added disclaimer to deter joyriders:D. I'm a little unsure of the precise details I've given, some might be wrong. Offhand, could you tell me if setting the thrust vector past the 90 degree position would cause backwards motion and slight descent, or just forward pitching of the body? I'm a little unsure what would happen there.--ChrisJMoor 02:08, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. I've put an opinion on user:clawed's talk page. While I'm here, I'm sorry I can't answer your Harrier controls question. I would be much cooler if I could! Benet Allen 16:16, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Congraduations someone hates you[edit]

[1] I don't see where you edited popular feminism though, so are really wonder were the accuastions are coming from. --BerserkerBen 19:21, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the post, BerserkerBen. Its nice to see my edits and the response to them going noticed, although I wish the response was more positive.

I value the opinions of all who can make a sensible arguement. I encourage the author of that post to contact me personally, here, and offer critique beyond a copypasting of an early version of the article, an uncited alternative definition of 'pop feminism' and a personal attack encouraging me to leave wikipedia. --ChrisJMoor 03:38, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, yes but when did you do this? I don't see any proof in the edit history! --BerserkerBen 10:15, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IP 88.155.203.30 must be me (check earliest three entries in history). As I said in the talk page, I created the article, although I added the signature later when actually signed in. I suppose I should get an administrator to assign me credit for the first few anonymous edits.--ChrisJMoor 20:15, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well what ever then, I don't feel you did anything wrong, most of what you said was in fact stated on web sites when I was looking for references, considering how many errors were made by all of us (like not sourcing) in editing that article it would be nice if you could help improve it a little more (not that I feel your obligated in anyway). Maybe some day we can get it up to good article statues. Would you like to join Wikipedia:WikiProject_Molecular_and_Cellular_Biology? --BerserkerBen 00:42, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would require much work to get that article up to good status. In any case, the existance and significant usage of the term is dubious and there is a case for deletion. As for helping to improve it, I'd prefer to take the back bench for a while and see if anyone has the sense to improve it rather than complain about it. As for joining the wikiproject molecular and cellular biology - thanks for the invite, I might just do that.--ChrisJMoor 15:23, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Pop feminism, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

Hi User:ChrisJMoor sorry to be introducing myself in these circumstances. I've nominated Pop feminism for deletion beacuse the article is more original research than anything else. Also (as you say in your comments to BerserkerBen) its usage as a critical term is pretty dubious in almost 6 years of Gender studies research I can't say that I've found 1 WP:RS source I could cite for that page. Anyway if you want to contest the {{prod}} feel free. I've listed the deletion proposal at Project Gender Studies's Noticeboard in case anyone else want to contest it.--Cailil 16:22, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for telling me this and sorry for the delay in replying, Cailil.

I cannot refute your original research tag because I myself cannot find any good references. As I said in the talk page, I started the article hoping it was a valid idea (watered down, misandric feminism represented in popular media, that is). I still think it is a valid idea but it seems nobody has written much on the subject and the term is little-used. It probably should be deleted. Good decision overall, and thanks for the hard work.

I only hope its deleted because, as you say, its mostly original research and not because people think its anti-feminist and want to censor it. You might have noticed a few people getting hot under the collar over this article. I don't generally like upsetting people but on this occasion I have found it amusing that some people think an article about how feminism is exploited for entertainment and marketing purposes is anti-feminist. Surely its the other way around? What do you think? --ChrisJMoor 23:15, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your concern ChrisJMoor - I also tend to agree with your position on "pop feminism" (Charlie's Angels the movie comes to mind) but I haven't ever seen the term pop feminism used in a WP:RS source so I can't stand over the article. BTW another interested user has removed the {{prod}} and asked for time to rebuild teh article and I'm awaiting some improvements from them - I'll keep you posted if things change--Cailil 23:20, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello ChrisJMoor, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Palindromes film.jpg) was found at the following location: User:ChrisJMoor/Sandbox. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 04:03, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chris you started this page I just can't find any refs for Shredding, I was going to put it on AFD unless you have a ref somewhere.Slowart (talk) 23:40, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality/ethnicity[edit]

You are Romanian? or from the area? Just wondering from a few of your edits :p

Thanks.

The article Shredding (tree-pruning technique) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Has stood uncited for four years. Furthermore I'm a professional arborist and I've never heard of this in my life, likely to be a joke article.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
