Articles to add[edit]

Hello -- I noticed that you had Scott Erickson listed as one of your "articles to add". Please shunt this over to your list of "articles to expand". :D Hall Monitor 16:37, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Erickson[edit]

Will do :-D

~TrafficBenBoy

a litt==Steve Busby== Hi TBB.

Thanks for the message.

Well, after some infructuous attempts (like you), I made a complete cleanup with some additions and corrections. Check it now.

Keep up the good work, and good luck. MusiCitizen 00:06, May 22, 2005 (UTC).

Hello. Some of us, including me and Googie man, have been discussing the creation of a Baseball portal (see Wikipedia:Wikiportal). Would you be interested in helping out on this? Danny 23:10, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, that's a good start. Basically it means creating the page, filling it with articles, figuring out what we have and what we need, picking a featured article, and updating the current events. If we get enough people, it should be rather easy. Danny 23:36, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, again! I got it started here: Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Baseball. Let me know what you think. Danny 02:49, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can you add some facts to the Did you know section. Make them single sentence bullet points by starting each line with an asterix. They should link to the appropriate article, and the main topic should be bold. Thanks. Danny 02:52, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also, maybe you can start making a list of things that need to be done:
Copyedit:
Requested articles:
Expand:
or something like that. Danny 02:57, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I made it a little shorter. We need about 4 or 5 of those. Also, try and find things that are interesting trivia, like: More players are using bats made out of maple, because of the success Barry Bonds has had using them. Danny 03:13, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I made a minor tweak but it looks great! Danny 03:17, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think once a week. We'll see how many people we can get interested in this. If there are enough, we can change them more often. Danny 03:41, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. How about some bullet points for our News section. Thanks. Danny 17:41, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thats odd. It looks like it fits to me. Feel free to edit it down. Just reduce the pixel size of the image. Danny 01:07, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

We need to think of some other things to add to make the columns even. We have such good stuff that I dont want to take things out. Danny 01:23, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Lieberthal.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lieberthal.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. howcheng [ t • c • w • e ] 19:36, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

č== Image:Robert Cray.JPG ==

What is the source of Image:Robert Cray.JPG? I have tagged it as {{nosource}}, which means that it will be deleted unless the source is identified. Since this is the only picture on Cray's page it would be best if that could be avoided, so please enter a source on the image description page if you know it. Thanks. Chick Bowen 20:13, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Basie.JPG is also without source. If it's pre-1923 it's in the public domain, but Basie looks too old in the picture for it to be that early. Please identify source and we might be able to make a claim for fair use. Thanks. Chick Bowen 21:54, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Side project[edit]

Since you're involved with pages for notable players, I thought I'd suggest you might tackle some of the names at Baseball Hall of Fame balloting, 2006#Final ballots. Some of these Negro Leaguers are likely to be elected to the HoF in February, and it would be useful if their articles were ready by then. It's tough to guess how many will be elected, though some of the committee members have suggested as many as ten. A few of the prominent ones already had (brief) articles, and I started one for Biz Mackey (who seems to be the likeliest selection), but there are about two dozen remaining. (Anyone who's really ambitious can tackle the additional ones - Baseball Hall of Fame balloting, 2006#Screening process - who didn't make the final ballot.) Baseball on Wikicities[edit]

Hello TrafficBenBoy, Googie Man here and I want to ask you something as a fellow baseball fan on Wikipedia. Jimbo and Angela have made a new webstie called Wikicities. This link in particular will take you to the baseball Wikicity. As you'll see it's similar to Wikipedia, but my hope is this will allow baseball fans to do more and different things, like reporting on games, in depth statistics, create mulitple pages for pictures, and whatever else baseball fans care to create. You've done great work on Wikipedia and I was hoping you could help get this baseball Wikicity off the ground. Please let me know what you think either at my talk page, or you can email me at terry@wikia.com. Thanks! Googie Man(Talk), 19:12, 6 January 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Baseball on Wikicities, part II[edit]

Hi again TrafficBenBoy, thanks for your response to your email. So far I've gotten some questions on how Wikicities baseball will offer something substantially different from what you can do on Wikipedia, and I think it's a really good question. I believe that the answer to this question ultimately comes down to freedom. Wikipedia content must ultimately conform to encyclopedic standards. This of course has it's merits, but baseball fans aren't allowed to do things which most generally like to do, which is speculate on who is a better player or team, or expound upon their own theories. My hope is that Baseball Wikicities will become THE place for baseball fans to have a community. If someone goes to a game and wants to report on it, it would be great if they went to Wikicities and wrote a play by play write up. I'll bet that our visitors can write a better and more interesting write up than you can find on any other website too. I'm sure there are a lot of other possibilities I haven't even thought of yet. I hope to see you there TrafficBenBoy. Here's the link again [1]. Googie Man(Talk), 20:38, 3 January 2006 (UTC).7 January 2006.[reply]

Hello TBB[edit]

I’m sorry to say that this user want to delete all articles in Dates in baseball (please see), because he (or she) ‘’don't see baseball history by date as notable or useful” (¡?). I would like to know what do you think about it. Thanks in advance. MusiCitizen 20:36, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your support. Throw away this work could be a bad precedent for future projects. Dates in baseball, I think, serves as a complement to This Year in Baseball. A major issue is page size – the 2005 in baseball article, for example, is almost 100K (about three times the recommended page size), and doesn't even include any births yet (for obvious reasons). Image copyright problem with Image:Rolly Zeider batting.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rolly Zeider batting.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Stan 12:36, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Fair use rationale problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Wilbur wood.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ++aviper2k7++ 02:26, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Riot for Romance!, by × (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Riot for Romance! fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

no context

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Riot for Romance!, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 04:11, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Loren Finer[edit]

A tag has been placed on Loren Finer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 68.35.236.49 13:33, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:1957 World Series Ticket Stub.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 942 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Wilbur Wood - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The article Jacob Pullen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unfortunately, this college athlete does not meet the relevant guideline for inclusion, WP:ATHLETE, nor the general notability guideline, WP:GNG.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  Glenfarclas  (talk) 10:24, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Jacob Pullen, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jacob Pullen. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message.  Glenfarclas  (talk) 08:30, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Danya Abrams. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Danya Abrams has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:32, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Death Rally.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Death Rally.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:20, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your rollback request[edit]

Hello TrafficBenBoy, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert anything else (such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with) can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, then don't use rollback and instead, use a manual edit summary. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 13:01, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. In Jair Jurrjens, you recently added links to the disambiguation pages Dutch, English and Spanish (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

question about copying[edit]

Could you tell me what might be the reason for the similarity between your edit of Charlie Grimm, [2] and the page on thebasballpage.com]? who was copying from whom.

I noticed this because other articles also were copied from there, or vice versa, including Wilbur Cooper, which I saw proposed for speedy deletion. Since I do not normally work in this field, I do not know the nature of the sources. If you respond here, could you please let me know on my talk p. to look at your response.
