And some quick tips:

  • When discussing something on a talk page, you can sign your name by typing four tildes after your comments, like this: ~~~~

Also, thanks for joining the WikiProject Melbourne, and for your great articles on Cremorne and Joseph Reed. We're slowly building up a great library of articles on the city—thanks for the help!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me at my talk page, or at the Help desk or the Village Pump. Above all, make sure you be bold when contributing, and have fun!

Metropolitan Ring Road Article[edit]

I noticed you wanted to do some more research for this article. I've improved it a little bit, and added a bit of a diagram as to its location. Let me know what needs improving.

Great contribution by the way! I've created some articles on Melbourne's suburbs, so I'll check out your articles when I've got some spare time. Nick carson 08:21, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorrento[edit]

Why did you delete the suburb table for Sorrento and alter suburb to township. According to the ABS it is a suburb. Eric.

Personally I think calling Sorrento a suburb is slightly absurd, however its defined as an urban area in the Melbourne 2030 documents by DSE so who am I to argue. Cheers. Andypasto 12:03, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

St Pat's[edit]

"Melbourne's foremost ecclesiastical architect"? Melbourne before the Gold Rush had about 50,000 people and maybe three or four churches. I think this description is a bit inflated. Adam 14:45, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

In that case he should be called "a leading ecclesiastical architect" rather than "Melbourne's foremost ecclesiastical architect." Melbourne in 1847 didn't have a foremost anything. There are only two pre-Gold Rush churches in Melbourne (St Francis near Myers and the one near the Flagstaff Gardens), neither of them exactly Chartres Cathedral. Adam 23:27, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

According to the article Traralgon, Victoria was proclaimed a city in 1964. Why did you delete it from the List of cities in Australia? --AYArktos 08:19, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply - I understand now :-) --AYArktos 08:28, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Vandalism of your user page[edit]

Heritage Sites in Melbourne[edit]

I have a problem with the name of the Heritage listed buildings in Melbourne. I have been working on entries in Category:Melbourne parks and gardens and several of these are listed as heritage sites, and I envisage other articles, such as aboriginal heritage sites, which would not be covered by the article title as it presently exists. Can I suggest Heritage listed buildings in Melbourne is renamed as Heritage listed sites in Melbourne, which is a more inclusive name? See also Talk:Heritage_listed_buildings_in_Melbourne where I have also raised this. --Takver 07:48, 13 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your corrections on Victorian cities. I've corrected the template for all city articles. -- Longhair | Talk 00:37, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I see that you are listed as a participant in the WikiProject Melbourne. If you are a Melbourne resident I would appreciate your views on the suggested Meetup in March . Please give some indication of your interest, or otherwise, in the idea. Even a simple "No thanks" with your user name would be welcome and assist in assessing the level of support for a meetup. Thanks for the heads-up and the archival photo! I've alerted Giano who composed the Wardell article. --Wetman 00:27, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:ERMstation.jpg[edit]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:ERMstation.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 23:09, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Davidjoneslogo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Davidjoneslogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Unspecified source for Image:Compasairlineslogo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Compasairlineslogo.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC). your intentions with respect to nice photo you took[edit]

Hi. In discussion at Talk:Freebase (database)#Freebase just grabbed 20,000 NRHP articles from wikipedia, a Freebase spokesperson happened to put forward as an example the Richmond Power Station, Victoria article which includes a nice photo by you. Freebase, a commercial provider, has copied and uses your photo. To me, it appears likely that you took the photo and uploaded it under GFDL, which requires any other users to credit you, while they do not provide credit and appear to me to be in violation of GFDL or taking advantage of something. Could you clarify whether you are the photographer or not and what were your intentions with uploading the photo? doncram (talk) 20:16, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
