'Citroen' means lemon in Dutch, whereas 'Citroën' doesn't have a meaning. Since it's a Dutch family, I guess they didn't use the diacritic. --21:33, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

One of André's grandfathers was a market merchant selling lemons, he was called "limoenman" (lemmonman) and later took the name Citroen, another Dutch word for 'limoen'. Even today, the telephone directory lists several people named Citroen in Amsterdam. 217.121.157.116 19:18, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mothers name[edit]

There is some confusion about the mothers name. She is sometimes referred to as Masza Amelia Kleinman (confirmed by many sources) but also as Macha Kleinan (also confirmed by many sources). Life and carrer - Name[edit]

The "diaeresis" was not added "upon arrival" in Paris, when André was not even born, and not by a teacher of his, but by a school secretary (clerk) when he was registered at Lycée Condorcet, a well-renowned high school in Paris; also writes Jacques Wolgensinger in his biography of André Citroën. --Gallograph (talk) 17:31, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
