Nice to see you again[edit]

Hi Chad. Remember me? I used to be User:Bentvfan54321 (chose that username when I was 12 and have since changed it to something a bit more sophisticated) and we got into a bit of an argument a couple of years ago regarding The Chase (read the escapades here if you're interested...). Anyway, it seems you've really grasped the ropes here on what these articles should look like, and I'm serious when I say Double Dare has a shot at GAN. I know you're not the most active user around here but I'd love to see you keep up the good work with these game show articles. I never saw any of your game show appearances live but I must say, you are quite the champion in that department as well.

Also, speaking of The Chase, it's now a Featured Article Candidate while The American Bible Challenge just passed FAC last month. Wikipedia's game show coverage is improving greatly! --Bcschneider53 (talk) 02:30, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Bcschneider53:Ahhhh, I forgot about that. I really go in and out in my Wikipedia involvement. I was a lot more involved years ago. Being such a Double Dare fan and appreciating what it's done for the genre and my own interest in it, one day I just got sick of how poorly the show was represented by its article here and decided to tear it apart. I've spent much of my free time in the last week and a half (and a free trial to a newspaper database!) to get it up to par and I appreciate the compliments on it. Also, I'm glad to see an article I worked on (even be it eons ago) doing well here. Congratulations! — Chad1m Email Talk Cont. 02:39, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! And good luck with Double Dare; I'd review it myself but A) as a member of the Game Show WikiProject it may be seen as a conflict of interest and B) I don't have time to take on something like that at the moment. Best wishes, --Bcschneider53 (talk) 02:44, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for reviving this thread, but these kinds of edits are impressive and show how much of a commitment you have to improving this article. I don't know how familiar you are with FAC, but if/when this passes GA, I think it may have a shot there as well. Keep up the good work! :) --Bcschneider53 (talk) 17:07, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No apologies necessary, I'm grateful for the compliment! I'm aiming for that once I get through the GA process, so your nod of support is appreciated. I'm almost glad that the GA process has taken a longer time, because I think the work I've done between nominating and now has been more valuable in upping the overall quality. — Chad1m Email Talk Cont. 23:35, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, GAN can be a long process...but the silver lining is that it gives us even more time to perfect the article! --Bcschneider53 (talk) 11:04, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Cleanup Barnstar
Congratulations on Double Dare! It is quite incredible that you took this monstrosity to GA status almost singlehandedly (hence the "cleanup" barnstar). If I were you, I'd consider giving this a go at FAC as I think it may have a shot there. Nice work! Bcschneider53 (talk) 14:24, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the kind words and the award! I do plan on starting processes and getting it ready for FAC! I'm very proud of the work on this article and want to try to take it as far as it can go! — Chad1m Email Talk Cont. 18:25, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Double Dare (Nickelodeon game show)[edit]

Hello:

The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Double Dare (Nickelodeon game show) has been completed.

I have never come across a situation I found in this article before. In the body of the article, the date format used consistently throughout is M/D/Y; this makes sense since it is an American series. However, the citation dates are all (I think) in the British D/M/Y format - perhaps because the original author set it up this way. Generally dates used within an article should be in the same format. However, in this case, I think it makes sense to leave them as they are. You might want to check that the format of each citation is correct. I fixed one where I noticed "date" was in the wrong order within the citation. You should also consider archiving any URLs - although I don't believe this is mandatory for FA.

Good luck going forward.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Regards,

Don't give up![edit]

I had to take this article through FAC FOUR TIMES, mostly due to a lack of reviews. It's just the nature of how the process works. I know, it's incredibly frustrating (for some reason, my two areas of work, game shows and motorsport, seem to get less attention), but patience is a virtue. Once August 30 comes around, it's take two. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 23:37, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Double Dare[edit]

I linked the wrong link, and unfortunately, cannot edit summaries. Amaury has been persistent that they are all presenters, as seen here. Magitroopa (talk) 00:33, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad that Amaury has an opinion, but he is wrong; they are not presenters. By its very definition, a presenter is a host. Some of them (Harvey, Marc) have more involvement than a typical game show announcer, but there is no way Tiffany from Double Dare 2000 is a presenter. Please don't take one person's view on the article as gospel when a lot of work has went into this article, through many processes of review and analysis, to make it a good article. — Chad1m Email Talk Cont. 00:38, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I did try to explain that already, but he said completely disagreed with me. I was trying to make both articles line up since one has to be wrong since the presenters/narrators were formatted differently. Thank you for helping. Magitroopa (talk) 01:34, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Double Dare Shirt[edit]

Hi there, I was just wondering about your Double Dare shirt. More specifically, what it was from. I see you responded to someone saying it was for employees, so this was a shirt for employees/crew of Double Dare? I'm wanting to know since I was able to snag one on eBay recently. It's a size small, but still fits me! Thanks in advance. Magitroopa (talk) 17:19, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Double Dare logo.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Double Dare logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 02:05, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Double Dare had 136 Nickelodeon episodes on weekdays?[edit]

Have you seen these episodes with the original slates? Why 136? Were there taped but never shown episodes? Also, did early 1987 actually have 66 episodes taped?

Should this information be mentioned on the Double Dare page? What would you suggest?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dypcBJV81ro

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1b_zSqmRbVA--2600:6C50:23F:406E:5D70:97FC:952C:F596 (talk) 06:13, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Everything is a bit murky with the Double Dare episode numbers. For example, the second and third taped episodes have codes of DD 3B and DD 4B. The 65th taped episode has a code that says DD 69S. So while I don't know the exact explanation for the mislabeling, the episode codes alone can't be reliable information for episode count. — Chad1m Email Talk Cont.

Custom signature fix needed[edit]

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error, specifically formatting tags that are mismatched.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Change the signature as shown below, or make other edits to make the signature appear how you want it to appear.
  3. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.
