This article is written in New Zealand English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, realise, analyse, centre, fiord) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

With a country that has barely 2,000 people altogether, talk of a list of cities is a trifle far-fetched.:robinp 02:16, 20 Feb 2004 (UTC)

It might be more interesting to list the cities containing more Niue citizens than the total population of Niue. Besides is a settlement of under 2,000 people a city? Is an island with total decendent and and expatiate population of about 26,000 citzens large enough to even have a city? Surely the line has to be drawn somewhere. Some cities listed as northeast are northwest.

I doubt it's a joke - just part of the breakdown of List of cities. Now that a few more cities have been found (I thought there was only the one), I change my vote - keep. Ambivalenthysteria 12:21, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Keep as an article, though I agree that a renaming may be in order. They are the principal settlements and deserve an article, but calling them "cities" may be misleading. pne 17:02, 26 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Comment. I've found sites that list 17 and 21 total cities/towns for Nuie, so presumably these are the bigger ones. I also found this map with 25 named cities/towns/villages[1]. Niteowlneils 01:59, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- 25 named places, perhaps, but a number of them are more "features" (caves, points, etc.) than settlements. --pne 16:10, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)
I found a website that listed the largest towns in Niue and their 2004 populations.
- Alofi - 620
- Hakupu - 210
- Tamakautoga - 130
- Mutalau - 120
- Tuapa - 120
- Avatele - 120
