Modern musical acts in North Dakota[edit]

Does anyone else think that the "Modern musical acts in North Dakota" section is rather hard to manage? It seems like someone is always coming in and trying to put another band's name into the list. If we're not careful, we're going to end up with this article becoming just one big long list of all of the current bands operating in the state. --[[User:MatthewUND

Other areas need to be included[edit]

Other areas need to be included, not just Grand Forks. Because I am know about the Fargo area, I added informatoin there. However people more familar with other major areas need to contribute for this article to be correct. And I agree with MatthewUND regarding listing the bands, thats not very good for this environment. AdamHolisky 15:53, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would personally prefer to see the list of bands spun off into its own article. That way, we wouldn't have to try to limit the size of the list and no one could say we were purposefully neglecting a city or a band. What do you guys think? --MatthewUND(talk) 08:59, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to now propose that we do follow through with my suggestion and move the list of bands to its own article. I have casually looked at a few other state music articles and I see no other lists like this included in a state's main music article. If this list has its own article, we wouldn't have to limit its size quite as much we've tried to do here. Currently, I think having the list in this article is a bit of a hassle (as far as keeping it tidy) and trying to limit its size and geographic emphasis seems to be inherently POV. With its own article, it could be as long and exhaustive as desired. --MatthewUND(talk) 06:16, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Since I first mentioned this way back in November and no one put up any opposition to it, I have now made the list of musical groups its own article: List of North Dakota musical groups. --MatthewUND(talk) 00:21, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerts and venues[edit]

This article should be focused on North Dakota musical acts and venues. No more than passing reference to "national" touring acts should be given. As such, the Alerus Center and Fargodome are virtually irrelevant to this article; more focus should be placed on local-focus venues such as the Empire Arts Center in Grand Forksm the Red Raven in Fargo, the AMP in Minot, etc etc.

Then again, venues need not be a major focus; Indeed, much of the modern music scene is managed by independent promoters in various cities renting out space where they can; this is the situation in Bismarck, Williston, Dickinson, and Devil's Lake, and presently in Minot as the AMP organization lacks a specific location. --AlexWCovington (talk) 23:08, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
