This article on a truly important Korean is in need of references. 64.229.149.239 21:51, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the table to the right Yi I has his name listed under two romanizations: in the revised system, it is correct as: I I . In the McCune-Reischauer table it is liste INCORRECTLY as I I. The title of the article, the biography, is Yi I , which is the McCune-Reischauer standard. The table should be corrected from I I, it should be Yi I.

Indeed, "Yi" is widely used (and widely used in the Revised system as well), which is why it's reflected in the article title. However, it does not appear to have official status, and so here and elsewhere it is not reflected in the name table. -- Visviva 07:29, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
“Actually [] is pronounced in the standard dialect and should be Romanized I, but some may prefer to retain the older Romanization, Yi, because that is already the familiar form. In any case the other Romanizations of , Ri and Li, should not be used.”—McCune, Reischauer
(Emphasis mine.) As I understand the above quote, McCune and Reischauer say that while the McCune-Reischauer romanisation is I, some may prefer to use Yi, which – unlike Ri and Li – would be all right, but wouldn't be McCune-Reischauer. Wikipeditor 13:25, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
