Untitled[edit]

I think that there's too much detail about his equipment integrated into the life section. It can sometimes seem a bit random, and it's almost always unnecessary.

For example:

Isaac Roberts married his first wife, Ellen Anne, in 1875, making him the son-in-law of Anthony Cartmell. In 1878, Roberts had a 7-inch refractor at his home in Rock Ferry, Birkenhead.

It seems a bit random to me to go straight from him marrying his wife to saying he has a 7-inch refractor. IMO, it would be a lot more effective to have two seperate sections (maybe 'Life' and 'Equipment'?). -Frazzydee| 18:28, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Disputed birth date[edit]

"Roberts's exact birth date is disputed, and different biographies about him specify different dates." But looking at the url you give in this article ([1] section Obituary of Isaac Roberts) all bio except the one from the Proceedings of the Royal Society give January 27 as birth date. I found a scan of the proceedings and the date is really 27 not 17 as stated in the transcription of the RS obituary, unless there is other independant source which gave 17, it look like a transcription error rather a disputed date. phe 04:09, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, you're definitely right. I don't remember exactly why I wrote that the date was disputed, but it seems to be almost definitely because of that error. -Frazzydee| 05:42, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
