Untitled[edit]

Hard to say, but in the film is Kananga an alter ego of Big or is Big an alter ego of Kananga? Haha. Does it matter? K1Bond007 03:23, Jan 14, 2005 (UTC)

Not sure how much it matters, but I'd say Big is the alter ego. Certainly until they're revealed as the same Kananga is the more important of the two. Timrollpickering 16:32, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would say that Kananga is the actual one and Big is the invention. It is telling that Kananga rips off his "Mr. Big" face rather than the other way around. Also, the two identities have far different Education sets, and since it is hard to pretend that you are smarter than you really are (especially as a head of state. Admitedly a corrupt one, but still..)ELV

Kananga = Duvalier?[edit]

Was Kananga in the film version based on François Duvalier, the Haitian dictator? I've never read anything to suggest that was the case, but... a Caribbean island dictator, hostile to the U.S, from an all-black nation, who also used voodoo superstition and played off his resemblance to Baron Samedi to intimidate his population into submission. And he had been in power until just two years before the film was released, after which he was succeeded by his son, who was for all intents and purposes a clone of Duvalier Sr.

I don't plan to include this in the article since it's original research at present... but does anyone know anything about this that could be legitimately quoted? The parrallels and timing are just too striking to have been a coincidence, IMO. 213.181.226.21 (talk) 20:03, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Implicit Racism in Article[edit]

The book bio section states he is 'half black, half French' - which implies he cannot be both French and black! Something like "half carribbean, half-French" might be more helpful, although something more specific would be best. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.110.35.46 (talk) 23:02, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
