The biography posted to this page contained text identical to that on http://www.hawaiifive0.org/Cast%20Members/danno.htm, for the reason that I wrote both of them. Teresa Fogarty.

Hi, Teresa. OK, that does make a difference, but still, we strive for neutral point of view here, and your article is hardly that. -- Zoe

The text has been restored. -- Notheruser 05:21 18 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Moved from Charles MacArthur and to be grafted into this article at a suitable time:

...best known for playing "Danny Williams" on the American television series Hawaii Five-O from 1968 to 1979.

--Jerzy 05:28, 2003 Oct 25 (UTC)

Is that change necessary? It could be a case of 'too many cooks overcook the broth.' The article already contains the phrase ' For eleven years, James MacArthur played the role of Dan (Danno) Williams, reliable second-in-command to Steve McGarrett (played by Jack Lord), head of the fictional Hawaiian State Police Squad, Hawaii Five-O. The role made his name a household word and won him fans all over the world.'

T, plz forgive me for not responding immediately to the content of your note above, in favor of a more urgent matter.

Would you please be so kind as to leave me a note at My talk page, saying which of the following you've done:

  • send an EMail to the EMail address for Angela that is described by "angelaatwikipedia@yahoodotcodotuk", from one of the EMail addresses that is noted as yours on a Web page on a major non-anonymous site (e.g. IMDB, IIRC) where you have also asserted ownership of the copyright on this article, or
  • register as a WP user, listing such an address in the EMail-address blank of your registration form.

This is a matter of protecting both your copyright and WP's due diligence with regard to it. Your anonymous assertion here of being the copyright owner is not verifiable as it stands, and therefore not sufficiently credible, since anyone violating your copyright by posting here could claim to be you and in effect involve us in their violation. Without your cooperation in this, the whole article may have to be rewritten from scratch, rather than carry forward a presumed copyright violation. Tnx --Jerzy 02:00, 2003 Nov 20 (UTC)

Teresa, Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the misunderstanding re my 05:28, 2003 Oct 25 (UTC) edit to this page.

Perhaps i could have better worded it. But here is where we are, and thank you for adding clarity by noting the redundancy. Odds are excellent that you've prevented any harm that might have followed from my unclarity.

As to "too many cooks spoiling the broth" my perception is that our policy of "editing boldly" is, statistically, a good one. In a line, IMO there is and may always be a place in the world for what i think of as the "Samuel Johnson" model of writing, but WP is not now such a place. (It probably will never be, but that is both uncertain and irrelevant.)

You've observed that it isn't necessary to register in order to work here, but i urge you to consider doing so (for reasons more enduring than my request above re copyvio) and becoming more part of the WP community. --Jerzy 15:12, 2003 Nov 20 (UTC)

Jerzy, Thank you for YOUR patience! I am following your suggestion, that I log in as a registered user, to cofirm that I did in fact write the biography of James MacArthur which I posted to this site. Copies of this biography can also be found at The Hawaii Five-0 Fan Club website, The International Movie Database and the website which I maintain, The Official James MacArthur International Fan Club website (www.jamesmacarthurfanclub.cm). All of these versions were written by me. Though there may be different email addresses attached to them (tfogarty@bigpond.net.au, jmfanclub@teresafogarty.com, webmaster@jamesmacarthurfanclub.com, these email addresses do belong to me, and I am able to respond to emails at any of them.

I do hope this helps to allay any concerns you may have about copyright or the GDL. --TeresaFogarty

Sorry abt my using the wrong TLA, which you are polite enuf to imitate: we don't spend a lot of time here talking about the "GNU Free Documentation License", and when (using EMail) i had to refer to it without the statement at the bottom of every Edit page in front of me, i kept calling it "GDL" instead of GFDL as i should have. --Jerzy 05:40, 2004 Jan 21 (UTC)

To whom it may concern: i have corresponded with a person having receive and send access at one of the above addresses, which also appears on Web sites implicitly claiming authorship to an article i believe to be another stage in the life of the same literary work as first edit of this talk page's article. IMO it is worth believing her claim. I also am thoroughly convinced that no one other than her could both be performing their due diligence to protect their copyright and have written it. --Jerzy 05:40, 2004 Jan 21 (UTC)

Teresa, pleased to see you here after our EMail correspondence; i was a little concerned about not having heard from you for a while, but to coin a phrase, Wikipedia "grinds exceeding slow, tho it grinds exceeding coarse" [chuckling at my own supposed wit]. Ours is an unusual process, and there isn't a lot here that doesn't deserve patience.

You're of course under no more obligation to participate further than you have been under so far. But it'd be neat if you catch the bug; from our point of view, it'd be neat bcz you are a very skilled writer, and tho our style-book may not be what you're used to, i bet your experience and insight will be valuable here if you get interested in writing in other areas (including other performers) and in fixing imperfections in what others have written in many, many areas.

But i'm going on here abt things that were better said on your talk page; i'll copy this there and continue a little further. --Jerzy 05:40, 2004 Jan 21 (UTC)

Moved unsourced information[edit]

Moved from article pending a source: "Born in Los Angeles, California, the product of an affair between Charles MacArthur and a mistress,[citation needed] he was adopted as an infant by his biological father Charles MacArthur and his wife, Helen Hayes." All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 20:47, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

James Gordon MacArthur may have been born in Washington, D.C., but adopted in Los Angeles California. There is supposedly evidence of Washington, D.C. being his place of birth in the United States Census of 1940, but until such time as someone can provide a link or specific reference, the birthplace should remain Los Angeles, California, as stated in The New York Times and at Find A Grave. — QuicksilverT @ 09:14, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism?[edit]

Someone changed "Book 'em Danno" to "My heart's an open book." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tishbite37 (talkcontribs) 07:39, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Natural causes?[edit]

It appears redundant to say he died of natural causes at the Mayo Clinic. Why was he at the Mayo Clinic if he died of natural causes? Caeruleancentaur (talk) 14:47, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Natural causes" could include any number of diseases: cancer, heart condition, etc. Anything that wasn't the result of some accident or criminal action. Wschart (talk) 23:43, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life[edit]

Why is there no section on personal life. Pieces of his personal life are interwoven throughout. More importantly, was he married to Melodie Patterson (F-Troop)? Did they have children, and were they divorced and where was his residence during this period of time? N0w8st8s (talk) 13:26, 23 September 2015 (UTC)n0w8st8s[reply]
