Is that change necessary? It could be a case of 'too many cooks overcook the broth.' The article already contains the phrase ' For eleven years, James MacArthur played the role of Dan (Danno) Williams, reliable second-in-command to Steve McGarrett (played by Jack Lord), head of the fictional Hawaiian State Police Squad, Hawaii Five-O. The role made his name a household word and won him fans all over the world.'

Perhaps i could have better worded it. But here is where we are, and thank you for adding clarity by noting the redundancy. Odds are excellent that you've prevented any harm that might have followed from my unclarity.

As to "too many cooks spoiling the broth" my perception is that our policy of "editing boldly" is, statistically, a good one. In a line, IMO there is and may always be a place in the world for what i think of as the "Samuel Johnson" model of writing, but WP is not now such a place. (It probably will never be, but that is both uncertain and irrelevant.)

You've observed that it isn't necessary to register in order to work here, but i urge you to consider doing so (for reasons more enduring than my request above re copyvio) and becoming more part of the WP community. --Jerzy 15:12, 2003 Nov 20 (UTC)

Jerzy, Thank you for YOUR patience! I am following your suggestion, that I log in as a registered user, to cofirm that I did in fact write the biography of James MacArthur which I posted to this site. Copies of this biography can also be found at The Hawaii Five-0 Fan Club website, The International Movie Database and the website which I maintain, The Official James MacArthur International Fan Club website (www.jamesmacarthurfanclub.cm). All of these versions were written by me. Though there may be different email addresses attached to them (tfogarty@bigpond.net.au, jmfanclub@teresafogarty.com, webmaster@jamesmacarthurfanclub.com, these email addresses do belong to me, and I am able to respond to emails at any of them.

To whom it may concern: i have corresponded with a person having receive and send access at one of the above addresses, which also appears on Web sites implicitly claiming authorship to an article i believe to be another stage in the life of the same literary work as first edit of this talk page's article. IMO it is worth believing her claim. Teresa, pleased to see you here after our EMail correspondence; i was a little concerned about not having heard from you for a while, but to coin a phrase, Wikipedia "grinds exceeding slow, tho it grinds exceeding coarse" [chuckling at my own supposed wit]. Ours is an unusual process, and there isn't a lot here that doesn't deserve patience.

You're of course under no more obligation to participate further than you have been under so far. But it'd be neat if you catch the bug; from our point of view, it'd be neat bcz you are a very skilled writer, and tho our style-book may not be what you're used to, i bet your experience and insight will be valuable here if you get interested in writing in other areas (including other performers) and in fixing imperfections in what others have written in many, many areas.

James Gordon MacArthur may have been born in Washington, D.C., but adopted in Los Angeles California. There is supposedly evidence of Washington, D.C. being his place of birth in the United States Census of 1940, but until such time as someone can provide a link or specific reference, the birthplace should remain Los Angeles, California, as stated in The New York Times and at Find A Grave. — Quicksilver^{T @} 09:14, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Natural causes?[edit]

"Natural causes" could include any number of diseases: cancer, heart condition, etc. Anything that wasn't the result of some accident or criminal action. Wschart (talk) 23:43, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life[edit]

Why is there no section on personal life. Pieces of his personal life are interwoven throughout. More importantly, was he married to Melodie Patterson (F-Troop)?
