SDC

Thank you for your message. I'll answer your questions individually:

1. 1) My understand is that a public school is defined as being a member of HMC, furthermore SDC is in the "Public schools in london" category. There are also many schools that do not claim to be a public school, however are defined as such on wikipedia. As a matter of fact very few schools make public "public school" claims – the expression is generally made in private (for example check out many major public school web site such as Harrow, they formally use the word independent).

1. 2) Many articles that list the HMC, mention that the organisation is prestigious.

1. 3) Again, many articles list schools as fee-paying. Most people understand the differentiation between a public and private school in the international context. Defining a school as "public" or "independent" can lead to confusion if the reader is not educated on the English definition.

ICA and CIA

It was from a 1995 article in the Art History journal. I will have to look it up but will get back to you and post the reference. Serge Guilbaut has done the most work on the CIA sponsoring modern art exhibitions in the 1950s and 60s so if you are interested in that topic look him up.Piersmasterson 17:04, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
