this article should be either ecoregion in Australia or Australian ecoregion or a list of ecoregions of Australia. only topics that are lists should use plurals in their title. clarkk 00:54, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The article isn't just a list, it's an article; to rename it "List of Ecoregions of Australia" is not only unnecessarily long (brevity being a virtue in article naming), but it is also somewhat misleading. Calling the article "Ecoregion in Australia" or "Australian Ecoregion" is also misleading; it could easily imply that there is one ecoregion in Australia, when in fact there are many. The article isn't about one ecoregion or about all ecoregions, but about the ecoregions of a particular geographic area; hence the plural is appropriate here.
Never heard of the rule that only lists can have plurals in the title; I refer you to the featured articles National parks of England and Wales and Traditional counties of England as exemplary articles that use plurals in the title. Like this article, using the singular noun would be misleading, implying that England and Wales had one national park, and England one traditional county. Tom Radulovich 05:31, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
