Talk:Fake tan

This article is factually incorrect. It states that a fake tan will prevent skin damage by radiation. This is not the case. The skin is just as vulnerable to radiation with fake tan applied as without.

This is a correct dispute: few if any tanning lotions contain any UV protection.

what's the point[edit]

Then what's the point of getting a fake tan if it's not going to protect you from UV radiation? Scorpionman 19:45, 3 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The point is that with a 'fake tan' you can get the desired tan in a way that isn't harmful and doesn't involve exposure to UV light. Technically it doesn't protect you from UV radiation it is just a safer alternative than sun bathing or a tanning bed. You could argue that fake tans indirectly protect from UV radiation.
