Merge?[edit]

should this be merged with climbing wall? Frencheigh 02:52, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Yeh, probably. However I was going to expand to discuss the merits and problems with indoor climbing, which would seem a bit out of place under climbing wall... Not bothered though - if someone wants to sort it out as they see fit I may add to it if it's appropriate. Quiffhanger

Wow has this article been waiting round to be merged since 2005? Anyway I agree with the merger at present. It is tricky to climb indoors without a climbing wall so there is obviously a massive overlap. Probably climbing wall should be a section within this article on indoor climbing though. You can artifical walls (and holds) outdoors, so I reckon if someone wanted to merge this into Climbing wall they probably could if they were careful about it. -- Horkana (talk) 21:01, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Should be merged with rock climbing and climbing wall. Now this article is a collection of climbing terms explained. BambelB (talk) 17:06, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed and {done}}. Klbrain (talk) 17:01, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Routes[edit]

I'm not sure if this is unique and/or appropriate for this article, but there should be some mention of the way one climbs on artificial climbing walls and the way in which climbing routes are designed adn designated, i.e. with coloured handholds/footholds and rock features for your feet.

The joys of the climbing wall[edit]

An indoor climbing wall in Killington, Vermont, has sparked a new found love of the hobby of climbing between me and a friend of mine! I recommend it as an excellent and highly amusing way of keeping fit. At first my friend who prefers to be known as "the winner" was a little shaky but we both soon got the hang of it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.201.11.74 (talk) 18:45, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

disambiguation[edit]

I think there should be a disambiguation page or an explanation of some kind, so that people don't get confused about outdoor sport climbing and indoor sport climbing which is competitive and has world cups and official competitions that IFSC oversees. PLEASE if you know how to do it, do it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kimia-123 (talkcontribs) 18:01, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

major changes[edit]

I merged Disciplines section with Climbing competition. I will also remove Equipment section as it is inferior version of Rock-climbing equipment. After that I will try to add some valid description of the differences between standard sport climbing and indoor climbing. Wikify. Add sources.

Feel free to help or comment here on the changes. BambelB (talk) 17:21, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
