A few questions:

(a) Is the poster Alexei Pace? (We need to be clear on copyright.) Related to that, Wikipedia articles aren't signed, so I've removed the signature from the main page. " by Alexei Pace, architect & civil engineer, Marsaxlokk, MALTA."

(b) Can you (anyone) confirm that date for Phoenician settlement: this isn't my period, but ninth century seems late.

(c) There are two image captions, and no image. The second, which also needs translating into English.

"One can here admire the small fishing craft, the 'Luzzu' and 'Kajikk' painted in vivid colours of red, yellow, green and blue, floating lightly on the calm waters of the bay."

"C'est dans cette "baie du sirocco" (Xlokk), que débarquèrent les premiers Phéniciens pour installer, au IXème siècle avant J-C, des comptoirs sur l'île. Au cours du Grand Siège, Marsaxlokk servit également de mouillage à la flotte turque." Vicki Rosenzweig 12:47 23 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Discussion with Maltese friends suggests that the name Marsaxlokk is of Italian derivation, marsa is harbour, and xlokk is the Maltese version of sirocco. Since it is open to the south east, the derivation seems to be "harbour vulnerable to the sirocco" rather than the one given. I do not qualify as authoratitive though... --Shoka 23:44, 12 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

the word "marsa" is definitely semitic. Sapienza

logic-defying statement[edit]

"The number of working fishermen has decreased, in part because people from other localities have moved to the village." I commented out this illogical statement. Can it be rendered sensible?--Wetman (talk) 01:45, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
