Untitled[edit]

This article states that the white cover edition of the album does not come with the DVD, but I have the album with a white cover, and it certainly came with a DVD, whereas the black cover editions I've seen in stores do not advertise an included DVD.

Norwegian special edition[edit]

Prior to my edit, the Norwegian special edition was incorrectly listed as the Swedish special edition. On Foo Fighters' official page: (http://www.foofighters.com/discog.php?cat=album&id=162&count=0), it is clear that the bonus tracks on disc two are taken from the concert in Oslo, December 2003. To my knowledge, there has never existed a Swedish special edition of One by One.Bjartewe 18:39, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grammy Awards[edit]

Why does it say that the Foo Fighters won Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Rock Albulm in 2002 and 2003 but when i click the link for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Rock Album it says they won them in 2003 and 2004?

As above, it's likely the 4 singles. Halo, Lonely as You, Burn Away, Overdrive and Come Back would definitely be 5 of the 7 he dislikes. Times Like These was done for Skin And Bones and All My Life is constantly played live so that's 2 of the 4 he likes. This leaves Have It All, Low, Disenchanted Lullaby and Tired Of You. Disenchanted Lullaby was only played live a handful of times. Tired Of You was played last in 2005. Low was last played in 2009 and Have It All in 2008. The 4 are probably Times Like These, All My Life, Low and Have It All. I will note however that Low and Have It All weren't played at all in 2006 or 2007 (assuming the setlist site actually has setlists for those years) so he might have disliked those two tracks and liked Lullaby and Tired Of You then softened his stance on Low and Have It All and started playing them because they were singles and people would remember them. It should be just officially called "One by One" since that is what it redirects to. The current title can be kind of confusing.

  • I know GA criteria does not ask for absolutely perfect references--which and this article definitely does not have--but I think you should add accessdates for all online references. In the case that one of them dies, you will at least know, when the information was retrieved.
  • Ref 8 does not support that the studio was in Topanga.
    • Added one that supports.
  • Ref 10 does not support quotation.
    • Excuse me? The whole section is adapted from the article on Raskulinewicz linked there!

  • "Grohl said the album was 'all about the energy of playing live'" – quotation marks should surround "the album was all about the energy of playing live" per source.
    • Done.
  • The article is a bit too heavy on quotations. I suggest heavy copyediting throughout.
    • Any suggestions?
      • I see some quotations simply unnecessary and verbatim. A few examples:
        • "Regarding his choice, the producer speculated Grohl 'was having a hard time finding a guy who would commit to sitting in his basement for four months', and eventually picked Raskulinewicz because 'Dave liked my energy and enthusiasm' and 'could tell I was a fan'". Can be written as "The producer speculated that Grohl, having found difficulty in choosing someone 'who would commit to sitting in his basement for four months', eventually picked Raskulinewicz for his energetic and enthusiastic nature."
        • "... declaring that when he considered the rough mixes 'sucked a lot of the life out of the songs' and 'sound[e]d like another band playing our songs'." --> "... declaring that when he considered the rough mixes "sucked a lot of the life out of the songs" and "sound[e]d like another band playing our songs"." – this is a actually a bit confusing. "declaring that"? Do you mean "realizing this"...
        • The last paragraph in the Production section alone 35 words in quotation.
        • "... with Grohl describing the sound of it as "different than anything we've ever done in that it is darker and more aggressive"." can be "...as Grohl described the sound as a darker and more aggressive approach as opposed to the band's usual work." (needs source btw)

    • Well, if they were supposed to be the finished tracks, calling them demos means dissapointment!
  • "One by One was considered the band's heaviest up to that point" – Up to what point? Describe a specific period of time.
  • "...and the short period during which the re-recordings were done." needs direct inline citation.
  • This sentence is probably a bit too long and needs to be trimmed or split: "Grohl would usually write the lyrics after finishing the vocal track for another song,[4] and the singer said that despite the angry content of some lyrics, he drew no inspiration from Courtney Love—with whom he had arguments and lawsuits regarding Nirvana, the band on which Grohl and Love's late husband Kurt Cobain played—to which he was surprised as derogatory references to Love usually "snuck in" in songs such as "I'll Stick Around" and "Stacked Actors"."

I think all aspects of the GA criteria have been covered. I would recommend you clean up the reference formatting and dig for some more information on the chart performance and sales. More aggressive sound ?[edit]

I would like to question the statement: "The songs on the album, which include the successful singles "All My Life" and "Times Like These", have been noted for their introspective lyrics and a heavier and more aggressive sound". The song Times Like These does not have an aggressive sound even for a Foo Fighters song. The same can be said for most of the album.QuintusPetillius (talk) 19:36, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is summing up the "Composition" and "Critical response" sections, and both the bandmembers and critics noted the songs were heavier. Times Like These may not be as rough as All My Life, but just compare that to Everlong, Walking After You or most songs in TINLTL (to keep with the albums the band had at the time). igordebraga ≠ 19:59, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Japan Disk Version?[edit]

I recently bought a used version of the album in Japan. It has the same titles as the Original Release version, but with the title Danny Says added as a bonus track. (Number 12, 2:59) Interestingly, the logo is a black instead of white. See https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B01JTDHJPM/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_JRJNV8KEYNZQCDSXFBFJ for a very low quality example. The backside of the booklet features the white version, but with the record information at the bottom instead of the album and interpret.
