  • I've got the book in question, and it also lists the name Balls. I've also seen other lists of stupid names in lad mags for comedy value (ranging from God to Lenin to Arm to Arsenal Millwall). Wikipedia is not FHM. Delete. Kinitawowi 10:19, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete, but a list of unusual names of real people would be mildly interesting. Start with Puritan names; Bombaugh's "Oddities and Curiosities of Words and Literature" mentions "Fight-the-good-fight-of-faith White" and "Search-the-scriptures Moreton," but I don't know where I heard of one "If-Christ-had-not-died-for-thee-thou-hads't-been-damned Barbon," who supposedly went through his life being called "damned Barbon" for short. My wife's family genealogy had some odd first names in it. Some years ago we raised guinea pigs and named them all after her ancestors. The ones I remember were "Desire," "Increase," and "Submit."     • Just a Did You Know tidbit on why they did that. The Puritans recognized that all the names in the Bible were meaningful phrases when given ("Promise of God" and "Give praise to Him"), and so they were trying to get back to the "true" practice of religion by giving names that meant holy sentiments. You may have already known that, but someone out there might not have. Geogre 02:02, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
