Base Realignment and Closure[edit]

According to KVIA ABC-7 News (El Paso, TX), Fort Bliss is slated to gain just over 11,000 troops if the proposed Base Realignment and Closure model is approved by President George W. Bush. Fort Bliss would lose its Air Defense Artillary and the ADA School, which would be moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma. TomStar81 05:13, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • well thats a dun deal including moving the ADA museum, but this thing needs a lot of work, no mention of post field ect. I just cant decide if post field should have its own airport article. Brian in denver (talk) 20:38, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Free world?[edit]

Is "free world" in this context equal to "United States", or does it have a more symbolic meaning? JIP | Talk 05:45, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It actually seems a bit biased to me, but I don't know the exacts of the statement.--FDIS 08:04, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article is revisionist/rightwing-perspective! Many sources say that reasons for the comanche, kiowa and southern cheyenne resistance was starvation on the reservation. Many sources mention high corruption of indian agencies in that time. Many indians got to few food and often, its quality wasn´t good too. The bad conditions on the reservation were also a reason for the escape of northern cheyenne led by Dull Nife and Lone Star in 1878. They jsut wanted to return to their home in the northern plains, but got persecuted brutally by the US-Armee. Steve Ackermann 15/8/07

This page is highly biased[edit]

This page is highly biased the only three sources are government sources. The article refers to American Indians (Native Americans) and Indians. I do not believe that people from India waged war on Fort Sill. The U.S. government is also not known for admitting mistakes in fact many history textbooks in public schools are still using incorrect historical data for the conquest against the American Indian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Verbicheck (talkcontribs) 19:20, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go there and tell the indians to stop calling themselves Indians.--166.205.137.116 (talk) 07:03, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Activities "Today" Section[edit]

ironically, this section is out of date. The info included is sparse and choppy. At a minImum, this section should explain the tenants on post (FORSCOM, TRADOC, IMCOM, Air Force, USMC, etc., and it should include information about the Fires Center of Excellence and its mission.--166.205.137.116 (talk) 07:12, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Trader post scandal[edit]

Fort Sill (1876) was involved in a trader post scandal. I believe information on the scandal needs to be put in the article. John S. Evans, post trader at Fort Sill, split profits with Carita Belknap, wife of Secretary of War, William W. Belknap, and Caleb Marsh.

Inline citations needed[edit]

This article needs far more inline citations, especially in sections dealing with conflicts with Native Americans.Rogermx (talk) 00:33, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MOFN[edit]

Has anyone checked what you get when opening up the coördinates in Google Maos? Can this be fixed to show the actual base rather than a big stretch of nothing much? Or is there some reason why the coords locate to that particular spot? --Pete (talk) 08:01, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article classification[edit]

This article meets the requirements for Class C. I have made the change for WP:Oklahoma. Bruin2 (talk) 16:31, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Base Geographic Size[edit]

Out to include how physically big the base is ? (in acre or hectare, or square mile)? Re- the MOFN section./ I see what he means, however if you zoom out enough - there is a chance this is the geographic center of the base- if the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge is also part of the base. The is where the conduct Artillery training - need a lot of open empty space for impact range when firing (Danger- Do not enter, possible unexploded ordnance is present.
