Gay Icon Project[edit]

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 20:16, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

George Bush[edit]

The link to George Bush in the article is a disambiguation page. Did Carr sing for George H. W. Bush or George W. Bush? GoCardinal 00:55, 14 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You[edit]

Is there a reason the song Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You is not mentioned on this page? It's undoubtedly her greatest hit, but isn't mentioned. Is there something I'm missing here? Cody M Wilson 13:55, 27 Mar 2007 (UTC)

It was never a chart single, although it received a lot of airplay in certain markets.

Fair use rationale for Image:VikkiCarr2.jpg[edit]

Image:VikkiCarr2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:25, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Year of hit single "It Must Be Him"[edit]

The Career section is correct in stating "The title track reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States in 1967." I've verified this in the Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits, 7th Edition by Joel Whitburn (Pg 110) which has the peak date of this song as 9/30/67.

However, both the Chart Singles and Singles Grid of this article had the song incorrectly placed in 1966. I've corrected the year of this hit and The Lesson and With Pen In Hand in the list of Singles, but the grid I'll leave for someone else. GaryZ45RPM (talk) 13:27, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"It Must Be Him" was first released as a single in September, 1966. The single charted first on the U.K charts, but did not chart enter the US Hot 100. It was re-released with a different flip side in July 1967 and that single debuted on the Hot 100 in September 1967. all of her singles discography along with release dates can be found at [1]
Nearly all of the singles discographies on Wikipedia list by the year that the single was released, not the year that it peaked on the chart. (I prefer using peak dates, but to try to change the way it is done here is a losing uphill battle). For this song, it was released and entered the British chart in 1966. Perhaps a note at the end of the table explaining that the song entered and peaked on the Hot 100 in 1967 would be the best in this case? BurienBomber (talk) 15:43, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explaination. I have restored the Release years for those songs and added a note stating Release Year not Peak Year. Take a look. Also added note to the Singles Grid section. I toyed with the idea of changing the "Year" column heading to "Release Year", but couldn't figure out how to get "Year" to wrap under "Release".GaryZ45RPM (talk) 13:24, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have done some further work on the article. Two or three points though. Firstly, surely the discography lists and tables need to be combined - it is presently largely a duplication and rather confusing. Secondly, the whole article is short of references (even after my efforts). Lastly, I wonder about the validity of some chart placings when I see a chart position for Hoy of #203, in a chart that is labelled Billboard 200 ! A cited reference source might help to remove any suspicions. Thanks,

Apologies to WurmWoode, who just did some work improving the "charting singles" section, but it makes no sense to have these two sections, singles & charting singles, which is just duplicate information. I combined the info into one table, using the US chart positions from the "charting singles" table, which are all correct, but still need to be sourced: the Billboard.com website only goes back to around 1983. I eliminated the "Mexico" column as there were no figures in that column. If someone at a later date wants to research & include Mexican chart positions, a new column can be added at that time.--Nyctc7 (talk) 16:47, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I also tweaked the albums chart: abbreviated the chart names for a cleaner look, removed the "Latin Pop" charting albums from the "Top Latin" column to avoid confusion: "Latin Pop" postion is in the "comments" section. Hoy is not a Billboard top 200 album.--Nyctc7 (talk) 17:45, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No personal information[edit]

There is practically no personal information about Carr on this page. All I see are her birth name and the date and city in the infobox. This is strange for a performer. Does no one know anything about her childhood, family, marriage(s), children, interests besides show business, etc? It would be good to have something here about the person, in addition to the extensive information about her career. From a few old interviews I've seen online, she seems to be extraordinarily well-balanced for a celebrity, and it would be good to know more about how she managed to accomplish that, assuming it is true.--Jim10701 (talk) 23:48, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I came here to see if she was of Mexican origin. Is she? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.119.151.233 (talk) 08:20, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Birth Date Error[edit]

I notice Vikki's birth date appears as July 19, 1941 in the introductory section but as exactly a year earlier, July 19, 1940, in the photo-panel Background Information. Probably someone has irrefutable evidence on the matter and can bring the dates in line. Humboles (talk) 23:09, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
