untitled discussion[edit]

I removed the 1900 census record because I don't think it was correct. I found another with all the same names and with his father Solomon listed as a cutter. More importantly, Moe's birth date was correct. I have to look into this issue more closely...71.234.180.182 (talk) 05:22, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So Moe Howard was born in 1897 - - and he is working at some place after he has graduated high school from high school in 1910 and 1912? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.168.156.64 (talk) 13:40, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The allegation that he was a tax genius are unsubstantiated; the word "tax" doesn't even appear on the bio page at 3-stooges.com. Please provide a reference. Thanks, Meelar (talk) 20:53, Mar 26, 2005 (UTC)

Howard was married to a cousin of magician Harry Houdini, whom he was devoted to for many years. - was he devoted to his wife, or Harry Houdini? Zoe 05:25, August 19, 2005 (UTC)

My guess would be his wife.144.126.161.43 15:09, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A rock on Mars was named in his honor. Will somebody please put this in? (Mchelada (talk) 04:57, 2 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

NPOV.[edit]

Tons of NPOV. You can't provide a positive light on the actor, unless you have a reliable secondary source. - A Link to the Past (talk) 09:13, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Irving and Benjamin Horwitz/Howard[edit]

Apart from Shemp, Moe, and Curly, there were two other Horwitz Bros. who never entered showbusiness. One was called Irving Horwitz (1891-1939), and the other Benjamin 'Jack' Horwitz (1893-1976). Irving was the only brother who did not change his last name from Horwitz to Howard.

Maybe this piece of info should somehow be included in the article? 82.148.195.194 (talk) 15:24, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Moe's name[edit]

Named Moses Horwitz at birth, he is better known as Moe Howard. The article says, "known professionally as Moe Howard," but there is evidence that Moe Howard was his legal name at the time of his death. His social security number, 563-12-6482, was under the name of Moe Howard. Source: the Social Security Death Index, searchable at http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi. So rather than saying "known professionally as", the article should probably indicate that it was his real name at the time of his death, or some such. I don't have any source to say when the legal name changed happened; the social security number may have been issued to Horwitz, and later changed by deed poll.

Interestingly, "The Complete Three Stooges" by Jon Solomon (http://www.amazon.com/The-Complete-Three-Stooges-Solomon/dp/0857682989) says that Moe's given name was "Maurice", an egregious error. I will not dwell further on this book, which is apparently hastily put together and poorly indexed, except to say that I suggest not using it as a source. 72.179.63.75 (talk) 20:38, 15 April 2012 (UTC) Eric[reply]

"de facto"[edit]

Instead of saying "de facto leader", why not just say "leader"? Probably no difference. 172.250.44.165 (talk) 02:07, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is more of an article about the Three Stooges than it is Moe Howard[edit]

The focus should be about this member of the troupe, not the trio as a whole. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.29.153.140 (talk) 22:05, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
