Gorton Township is a township in Grant County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 64 at the 2000 census.

Gorton Township was organized in 1879.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 34.7 square miles (90 km²), all land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 64 people, 27 households, and 20 families residing in the township. The population density was 1.8 inhabitants per square mile (0.69/km²). There were 33 housing units at an average density of 1.0 per square mile (0.39/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.44% White and 1.56% Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.56% of the population.

There were 27 households, out of which 25.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% were married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.9% were non-families. 22.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.80.

In the township the population was spread out, with 23.4% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 23.4% from 25 to 44, 32.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 years of age or older.
