The ancient Greek peoples, like many other ancient peoples, had both a set of more or less common religious practices, rituals and beliefs, which we call their "religion" (see Ancient Greek religion) and a set of more or less common myths, stories, folklore, and legends, which we call their "mythology". The latter is what this article is about. While there is some not inconsiderable overlap between the two, they are considered to be distinct.
