Odd sentence needs a sortout[edit]

Hi. I wondered if you might please have a look at the last sentence in Description/Location, which currently reads Passengers travelling north on East Coast Main Line trains have a window of time to view the Angel before as it emerges from behind buildings and trees before being hidden again. I am not quite sure how to sort it out but I have at least two objections – the a window of time bit is just clunky and awkward, and before as it emerges is presumably an error, or an edit attempt that didn't quite work out. Could this whole sentence have a bit of a birthday, please? I see what it is trying to say but it is a bit obtuse at the moment and needs fewer words. Thanks DBaK (talk) 12:22, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree it's really odd. I took at stab at improving it. I'm also trying to find a better picture of the view. 10mmsocket (talk) 13:45, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Found one... 10mmsocket (talk) 13:51, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @10mmsocket for amending this :) The picture is definitely an improvement. Unexpectedlydian (talk) 19:40, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Brilliant, thanks for the sortout – it's much better now. Cheers DBaK (talk) 22:55, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hartlepool Steel Fabrications[edit]

Sadly, HSF went bust in 2002.[1][2] There’s quite a nice, but unusable, Facebook image here,[3]. If we had a Footnotes section, I might pop a mention in, but I’m not sure it fits in the body of the article. Thoughts? KJP1 (talk) 07:55, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a footnote to reference the closure of HSF, do take a look and let me know what you think :) Unexpectedlydian (talk) 09:58, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yep - I think that is good. Have added a cite. KJP1 (talk) 10:04, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Consistency in italicising the title[edit]

Mostly, the full title, Angel of the North, is italicised. “The Angel” isn’t. But the section “Artistic significance and symbolism” has three uses of the unitalicised full title. There may be other instances. I think we need consistency. KJP1 (talk) 08:01, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Green tickY - Done this. KJP1 (talk) 08:47, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Location reference[edit]

The first sentence of the location section states "The sculpture stands on a hill at Low Eighton in Lamesley Parish, overlooking the A1 and A167 roads and the East Coast Main Line rail route." It gives this online map as a reference, but unless I'm being thick I really can't see how the map references the content. For now I have tagged it with {{failed verification}}. Help fixing would be appreciated. --10mmsocket (talk) 08:03, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Green tickY - hopefully, this one’s sorted. KJP1 (talk) 08:28, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. 10mmsocket (talk) 08:51, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Interference with ley lines?[edit]

The “Reception” section suggests there were concerns that the Angel would “interfere” with ley lines. Aside from being unsure what that would mean, I’ve checked the two cites which are available online, and can’t see any mention of ley lines. I can’t check the Gormley. Can anyone see if they are actually mentioned? KJP1 (talk) 08:11, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I added that statement so can confirm it's in the Gormley. I've clarified the statement a bit further though - the concerns were that the statue would "bend" ley lines. Let me know if this works, but can remove if we don't think it's needed. Unexpectedlydian (talk) 09:36, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think the clarification’s helpful; although how “encyclopaedic” the “bending of ley lines” is, I’m not sure! Many thanks. KJP1 (talk) 10:06, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm I think you're right, it was presumably more of an unconventional concern. As the original source does not go into more depth than that, I'll remove the reference. Unexpectedlydian (talk) 10:20, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Given that our article on ley lines suggests they are a pseudoscience, I think that’s probably best. That said, one of my favourite authors, Fred Hando, was an ardent believer! KJP1 (talk) 10:24, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

About what? KJP1 (talk) 17:00, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose it might also interfere with people's auras, horoscopes and feng shui as they drove by. – AndyFielding (talk) 20:03, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your negative attitude is getting right up my chakras. 10mmsocket (talk) 22:25, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
