References[edit]

To avoid the questions that have come up about railroad classification elsewhere, let's list the resources that we reference as we add railroads to this template. Please add your references in alphabetical order following the guidelines in Wikipedia:Cite sources, also please sign your references and state which railroads are proven by the reference.

Reporting marks needed[edit]

By the way, the STB reports are a good source of confirmations of Class III status. --SPUI (talk) 4 July 2005 10:03 (UTC)

Split by state?[edit]

After adding another currently operating Class III railroad to the navbox, the thought occurred to me that we might want to consider splitting this into smaller templates by state (which would give us, for example, something like {{US class III - STATE}}). These smaller templates would be more tightly focused and wouldn't arbitrarily inflate the what links here list for each article. Thoughts? Slambo (Speak) 21:43, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Using the suggested template naming convention, I got up through the reporting marks listed on this template that begin with C. I hope to press further on this today and through the weekend. Once the state templates are populated, we can then begin replacing this template with the appropriate smaller template(s). Slambo (Speak) 16:05, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
