Fair use rationale for Image:Jwhispers.jpg[edit]

Image:Jwhispers.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Release-date ambiguity[edit]

Editor DPUH just changed the release date to 16 December 1983 and linked to compelling contemporary evidence. I want to note that the album’s page on the Cure’s website supports the previously listed date of 6 December. I think there are three plausible possibilities:

The Record Mirror got things wrong back in 1983, and 6 December is correct.
The creator of the Cure’s website got their info from Wikipedia, and 16 December is correct.
Japanese Dreams was released 10 days apart in different countries, and both dates are partially correct.

Will add what I've found: the album on Discogs states that it was released in the US on 6 December [1]. However, on page 50 of the 6 January 1984 issue of US magazine Radio & Records, the album is listed under 'Due in January'. [2] In Billboard magazine, the album was on Billboard's recommended LPs in the 11 February issue (page 70) [3] and it didn't enter the Billboard 200 until the week of 25 February. [4] Obviously, the album may have been elsewhere instead on 6 December... DPUH (talk) 23:46, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
