Information[edit]

If anyone is interested in finding more information about Captain John Fox Russell I would be happy to share

If you have any more info on where he had been stationed etc. I'm sure it could be used. Falphin 13:37, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes, if you look on page 76 of the book "Allenby's Military Medicine" by Dolev and Lillywhite.Acmthompson (talk) 20:05, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Was the name hyphenated?[edit]

The London Gazette citation for his VC is for Captain Russell, and the CWGC lists him under the family name "Russell" with forenames John Fox. Any ideas? Acmthompson (talk) 20:05, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The plaque honouring the School V.C.s in St. Bees School Chapel, the school's history The Story of St. Bees 1583—1939. and the school's Roll of Honour and Record of Service all list him as Fox-Russell. --Harlsbottom (talk | library | book reviews) 22:15, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
