Where were these first released?[edit]

So, in the track listing section, tracks marked with an asterisk (*) were first released on this compilation, but where were these tracks first released then?:

  • "What Difference Does It Make?" (John Peel session, 5/18/83)
  • "Handsome Devil" (John Peel session, 5/18/83)
  • "This Night Has Opened My Eyes" (John Peel session, 9/14/83)
  • "Reel Around the Fountain" (John Peel session, 5/18/83)

Title meaning[edit]

The name "hatful of hollow" and the cover model are in reference to Yuri Gagarin, who on his fateful lost trip into space complained that his head was getting an empty feeling as he was travelling in a runaway spaceship farther and farther from Earth. He radioed Moscow flight control for help and advice and they recieved assisting counsel from the Eastern Orthodox Church, in contact with the Holy See in Rome, whereby he was given the advice to terminate himself, because there was a Holy aspect to his feeling ill. Moscow radioed back with the advice that he should break a window to kill his body, and thus Gagarin was saved from being totally lost. -Druid Fiesta (talk) 00:43, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
