he is one of irans key players, and pretty notable considering he was named in world football magazine as one of the 12 young players to look out for last year.

Kaebi is an Arab[edit]

Kaebi is an Arabic title - this is not disputed. So why deny it? What is the agenda behind stating when a successful Iranian is Persian, but suppressing the ethnicity of successful non-Persian Iranians? Why do you people always try to dodge these questions?

Whether or not he is a member of the former Arab rulers is not something I can answer. It seems like he must have had some relationship.--88.109.32.246 17:10, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Says whom? "Ahwaz"? If we're suppose to go by the person's name, then Abu al-Faraj al-Isfahani must be a Persian. Provide a source that says Kaebi is an Arab. --ManiF 17:12, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Ahwaz is his home city so everyone there knows he is Arab. Look up the history of Khuzestan anywhere. The Bani Kaab are Arabs. Read it here on Wikipedia. The Bani Kaab are an Arab tribe strongly associated with Khuzestan particularly when it was Arabistan. Kaebi is an Arabic name just as Smith is an English name. It is a fact. You are not Iranian if you don't know this.--88.109.32.246 17:17, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't talking about the city of Ahvaz, don't act coy "Ahwaz". Someone's name alone is not an indication of ethnicity, see my previous comment. If Kaebi is indeed an Arab, then there should be at least a source that mentions this fact. --ManiF 17:20, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you have confused me with another. It is true that a name alone is not necessarily an indication of ethnicity, but in the case of the Bani Kaab, it is a certainty.--88.109.32.246 18:06, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Isfahani means from Isfahan - it can apply to anyone from Isfahan. Kaebi could come from Kuwait or Iraq or Iran, but it is always the tribal name. Kaab is not a place. The Bani Kaab ruled the area for a long time under the Qajar dynasty. Please ask any Iranian user of Wikipedia.--88.109.32.246 17:27, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Isfahani was an Arab with a Persian surname, the opposite could be true about Kaebi. Just provide a source that says Kaebi is an Arab so we can verify this claim, a source in Persian language would do the job too. --ManiF 17:32, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Isfahani is not a Persian or an Arab surname. It is a nisba of place of origin not ethnicity. Bani Kaab is an Arab tribal name and Kaebi means he is from that tribe. I am not saying he is direct a relative of the former ruling Arab families. He might also have a Persian mother or grandmother. But it is safe to say he is of Arab lineage from the paternal line and is therefore an Arab.--88.109.32.246 18:06, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I temporarily added "He is a Khuzestani Arab" to that unsourced paragraph about his family roots, until a source is provided for that entire paragraph and the unverifiable claims within it. We'll give it a week. --ManiF 17:43, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will look for source but it will probably be in Arabic or Farsi.--88.109.32.246 18:06, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, as long as it's a reliable and verifiable source. --ManiF 21:55, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What do you consider a reliable and verifiable source?--88.111.42.201 00:34, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A newspaper article, an interview with Kaebi, a published book, see WP:VERIFY --ManiF 01:07, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Which international match did he score that goal?[edit]

The infobox shows that he scored 1 goal for Iran. Which country did he score against and when? - Wolcott 26 August 2007 —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 17:43, August 25, 2007 (UTC).

Against New Zealand in 2003. Nokhodi 20:08, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much. But the official Iranian national team website states that he scored 2 goals. Got any info on the 2nd goal Kaebi scored? - Wolcott 10:52, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
