Tragedy struck again?[edit]

There is a paragraph starting "Tragedy struck again" without the article having said what the first tragedy was. I guess it is her horse accident in 1955, when she was only 19, leading to her never being able to play tennis again. Gmackematix (talk) 02:29, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would certainly called her leg being crushed and not being able to play tennis a tragedy, so "tragedy struck again" sounds ok to me. Fyunck(click) (talk) 02:52, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to Nancy Brinker, head of the Susan B Kommen foundation, Little Mo had ovarian cancer, not stomach cancer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.124.178 (talk) 03:26, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unless you have a source for that, it's WP:OR. News articles at the time of Connolly's death specify[1] no specific cancer. Just that she had a operation for removal of a stomach tumor. That might mean stomach cancer except we all know cancer metastasizes and that could have been the case with Connolly....William 15:56, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lew Hoad[edit]

is shown in the mixed-doubles table with an American flag against his name. However, he was Australian. 78.147.225.71 (talk) 18:28, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

 Done - yep, an error that's been there a long time. Thanks. Fyunck(click) (talk) 18:35, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the source material lists her cause of death as gastric cancer, while elsewhere it states she died of ovarian cancer. Do we know which is correct?

Update to better compare with other greats[edit]

It would be useful if this entry also had the timelines for doubles and mixed doubles and a records section to better appreciate the short but impressive career and achievements of Connolly. Antipodenz (talk) 04:05, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
