Adopt a category[edit]

You might want to "adopt" an India category!

India related articles are grouped into a hierarchy of categories that culminate in the Category: India. Wikipedia articles need to be categorized, though not all articles are. Often article categorization is not done consistently and this poses a huge challenge to the structure of wikipedia.

You could adopt a root level India category. This would involve structuring category content (categorization), identifying required articles, encouraging related content articles to be structured uniformly, comparing category structures of other countries (to get new ideas and to benchmark), collaborating with wikiprojects with related content - essentially adopting a category involves championing the category.

Of course, everyone else can still edit / contribute to an adopted category, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and structure the content and manage things better.

The following are the categories under Category:India that are open for adoptions. Please list your name (and optionally a IM id) for the category you would like to adopt.

Adopt a state[edit]

You might want to "adopt" a state of India .

This would involve bringing all state related articles if elsewhere under a suitable state category , identifying required articles, encouraging related content articles to be structured uniformly, comparing category structures of other states (to get new ideas and to benchmark). Essentially adopting a state involves championing the state.

Of course, everyone else can still edit / contribute to an adopted state , and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while,and to manage things better.
