The following is part of my proposal for organizing game mods. See User:Paitum/ModificationReorganization.

(perhaps some preamble here)

(also, note that the following descriptions are just cut&pasted out of where they currently exist. The texts will need to be cleaned up a little. And the corresponding entries, like Action Battlefield for instance, will need to become redirects to this page.)

Action Battlefield[edit]

A mod for the first-person shooter computer game Battlefield 1942. Publically released versions work with ealier and later patches of BF1942. In FilePlanet's 2003 awards Action Battlefield won second place under 'Best New Mod' and fifth under the 'Best Mod' award. The mod features more arcady gameplay with things like explode on contact grenades and jet packs. Also featured is a 'WeatherFX' system on some maps that incorporates limited weather effect for the Refractor 2 graphics engine.

Battlefield Interstate 1982[edit]

A total conversion modification of the computer game Battlefield 1942. The mod is loosely based off the computer game Interstate '76, and features an assortment of weapons and special vehicles. Vechicles include cars armed with rockets and mines, as well as things like monster trucks and dune buggies. Statics created for the mod include various rural and urban structures, including a disco. The mod's development is continuing with Interstate 2004, a modification for Battlefield Vietnam, with version 1.7 being the last major update to Interstate 1982.

Battlefield Pirates[edit]

A total conversion modification of the first-person shooter computer game Battlefield 1942. The game features a pirate theme including various sailing ships and old cannons and muskets. Not intended as historical recreation but as fun game with a popularized pirate motif, balloons and even a small submarine are included as well. The mod is publically released for both earlier and later versions of BF1942.

BattleGroup42[edit]

A teamplay based mod for the popular first-person shooter computer game Battlefield 1942 and soon Battlefield Vietnam. The mod's main goal is team and gameplay, but historical accuracy is a close second.

Desert Combat[edit]

A popular modification (mod) for the hit first-person shooter (FPS) computer game Battlefield 1942. DC brings the game's setting to modern warfare in the Middle East, providing the player with the opportunity to drive modern vehicles such as M2 Bradleys and fly F-14 Tomcats from aircraft carriers. The game pits the United States and its coalition allies against Iraq.

Many players consider it to be one of the best mods since Half-Life's Counter-Strike. It is also sometimes lauded in the mod community for the developer's ingenuity in making changes to the game despite Battlefield 1942 lacking basic mod support such as an SDK.

Eve of Destruction[edit]

A "mod" for Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam that features Vietnam War content and more realistic gameplay balance. EoD started as a Vietnam War mod for the Battlefield 1942 but later created a BF:V verstion. Major public releases for BF1942 include Alpha 0.2 and 0.3 along with minor patches.
