Thank you for your work. What you did is called original research. Please provide what is called secondary sources that discuss historiophoty as discipline, not the primary sources that use the term, otherwise the deletion is due to the policy Wikipedia:No original research.

As you correctly noted, I have no idea what historiophoty is. But I cannot help but notice that the current article says almost nothing about h-ty as a field and cannot help me to understand it. It discussed how the term was coined and says tha some people use the term, but other than that the article does not go beyond the dictionary definition. Mikkalai 05:24, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hayden White never said it was a field. I really do think you are confused and dont understand the material. It is not suprising, this is discorse between professional historians on methedology and philosophy, the term should not be taken literal. The reason there is a Wiki article is because other people have co-opted the term in published professional works, it is notable on google and elsewhere, and needs explanation on origin, context and usage and sources. Yes, I freely admit I am confused, but hopefully the issue is closed now.
Still, I want to continue some piece of discussion from VfD. A first best dictionary defines historiography as, e.g.,
  1. The principles, theories, or methodology of scholarly historical research and presentation.
  2. The writing of history based on a critical analysis, evaluation, and selection of authentic source materials and composition of these materials into a narrative subject to scholarly methods of criticism.
  3. A body of historical literature.
Our wikipedia historiography article seems to address only the first meaning. That what a meant when I spoke about the necessity of disambiguation.
And for this reason I, (acting as an ignotant in the subject) initially claimed that something is wrong in comparing h-graphy & h-photy; h-photy as used until now seems to correspond to the third meaning of h-graphy, not addressed in wikipedia.
Since you seem to have interest in the subject, could you fix the historiography article? Mikkalai 15:56, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
