A fictional character is a character in some fiction, oral or written. Is Speedy Alka-Seltzer a fictional character? or just a marketing device? User:Wetman

Well the McDonalds characters have/had a pretty long-running story and arguably a whole fictional world going on. I'v never heard of Speedy Alka-Sletzer, but feel free to make an article for him.Boffy b 15:18, 2004 Dec 12 (UTC)
Certainly. McDonalds has put out comic books and the like. And a television commercial that has a plot (Hamburgler steals hamburgers; Ronald gets tries to get them back; Ronald succeeds) is arguably a work of fiction. Still, I wouldn't argue with a change in the leader to say "Hamburgler is an advertising character". Amcaja 20:16, 19 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think Hamburglar is actually a kleptomaniac, as this would imply he steals just to steal, wouldn't it? It seems to me that the Hamburglar steals only McDonald's hamburgers, and that his motivation is a very intense hunger for the same. TheShyUnique

"Although he is a thief, he is still considered a friend of Ronald McDonald and the rest of the McDonaldland gang, who appear to tolerate his kleptomania as an eccentricity." This is my favourite line in all of Wikipedia.

Timeline[edit]

The page states that one actor portrayed him from 1971-91, and another has played him from 1983 until present. Is this a typo or an overlap? 216.137.71.118 01:16, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is damn near impossible to find any factual information on this subject on the Internet, as there are so many "joke" sites about the Hamburglar, and anything factual I find about it is nothing more than a Wikipedia mirror. I know that those names and dates were added here: [1] by a user named Tvhamburglar, and then removed by me, asking to cite sources for those names. It was added back again in the very next by the same user [2] with no sources, edit summary, or discussion. I discovered the names to be correct through IMDB [3] [4], but I can find nowhere that states the dates. Delfino's IMDB page says he played him for 23 years (which doesn't exactly add up to the dates on this article, but close). So I don't know if there was an overlap, or if the date 1983 was supposed to be 1993, or what. The user who added this info. may very well be Tommy Vicini himself, but as his edit history shows, he has not contributed much else, and he is not one to communicate through talk pages or edit summaries. If anyone has any outside knowledge on this, please help us out. Wavy G 05:00, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why was this recreated?[edit]

This page was deleted and redirected as a result of a discussion at McDonaldland in October 2007 and then recreated without discussion. Why? If no one responds I'll delete and redirect again. RJC Talk Contribs 17:15, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
