Ebson played the part of a "fatherly" WWII sargeant along with Jack Palance, Eddie Albert & Lee Marvin in the late 50's b&w army film "Attack."

Misdiagnosis?[edit]

"It may be a misconception that Ebsen was allergic to the powdered aluminum. In a TV episode of House entitled "The Right Stuff," House asks a group of fellowship candidates to present seven separate diagnoses for Buddy Ebsen's final fatal pneumonia, subtly implying that the allergy to aluminum dust was a misdiagnosis."

So is this based on a verified medical assessment of Buddy Ebsen's health, or is it simply made-for-TV drama? I see no evidence other than that presented by a fictional TV character. This needs to be properly sourced or deleted. HealthySkepticism (talk) 17:07, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will look for additional sources, but it wasn't an allergy but rather his lungs were coated with the aluminum powder. They changed the makeup after that. Unsinkablerob (talk) 03:23, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It would not have necessarily been due to an allergy. Aluminum is known to be toxic, though Alcoa and Reynolds Aluminum would prefer it otherwise, and inhaling the aluminum dust would cause an unusually high rate

of exposure in a manner conducive to absorption. Aluminum is suspected, if not established, as a culprit in arthritis-like joint issues, which symptoms were also present. C.R. would stand for Christian Rudolf as in Christian Rudolf Ebsen, Jr., his given name. The Coast Guard would not have had a record of his nickname. It could be somewhat confusing and I will change it to his given name in the caption.Cuprum17 (talk) 15:56, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Other TV appearances[edit]

Ebsen appears in an episode of Bronco Lane as Sgt. Cass, a soldier in the US Army - Bronco, Apache Treasure. Ebsen's character is sent with Bronco and a Lieutenant to meet with an Apache chief after scalp hunters murder numerous Apache tribe members. Tall Girl (talk) 11:01, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Author?[edit]

Other websites list him as an author (painter?) as well. I see no mention here, except in passing in the "Quotations" section. Wouldn't a list of published works be in order? I think the public at large perceive Ebsen as a muzzy-headed hillbilly, when he was so much more. Rags (talk) 23:08, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vote for Goldwater?[edit]

Why is this important enough to include in the article? It seems tacked on for no reason. If how Ebsen voted in 64 is important, shouldn’t we have info on how he voted in other national elections. Maybe some folks care, but I don’t get it. No worries, I’m only one person and of little consequence at that.THX1136 (talk) 03:02, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
