Untitled[edit]

There is an omission in the discography, albeit one which Pass was not proud of : "The Stones Jazz", containing covers of Rolling Stones songs, issued in 1966.

The section with Oscar Peterson needs revising: there are too many sessions lead by O. Peterson in which J. Pass plays, see http://www.jazzdisco.org/peterson/dis/c/

Corrected: The link 'The Trio (with Niels Pedersen)' was misleading as it sends to an Oscar Peterson album called The trio (Verve Records 1961, live at the London House) on which Joe Pass does not play. Joe Pass and NHO Pedersen appear on the album The Trio (Pablo Records 1974, live at the London House).

The link 'If You Could See Me Now (with Niels Pedersen, Martin Drew)' was to a book by some irish writer. al 17:41, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to Pass himself, in an interview at the beginning of the DVD "The Genius of Joe Pass", the Gene Autry story is a myth. He confesses that although he has told that story (and others), he doesn't remember how he got started with the guitar.DM1966 (talk) 04:29, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He got started because his father wanted him to have a skill that would bring in cash immediately (rather than investing in a formal education which would only pay dividends much later in life). His father saw the opportunity to bring income into the household if Joe was playing in bands around town, which he did until things got too ugly at home and he was sent out on his own at 15.
