2005 English cricket season (8-30 April)

Er, that's not an article in its own right. It is a collection of templates after a lead section on a template container page. An article is not a Borg Collective of parts so I don't see how that could ever be a featured article. All the text from those templates should be {{subst: into this article. --mav 04:05, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Subst wouldn't work as all the write-ups also link up into other articles. Also, remember that the reader does not know how an article is put together, he just sees what's on his screen. That is a very bad setup. Prose should never be in templates and having the exact same text in several related articles is a disservice to readers interested in that topic area given the likelyhood that the same reader will read the exact same text (this is highly annoying). Instead each article should tailor their own treatment of the content to suit the needs of that article. This article, for example, should be a summary and overview of its topic; not a collection of parts from more specific treatments. Editing is also very problematic since the editor will land in an unexpected place - a place that only contains the section they were editing. Linking to anything in the title is also counter to the Manual of Style. Until these issues are fixed, this article is far from FA status. ---mav 17:11, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Well that is the way we do things now, but that doesn't necessarily mean all other avenues should remain closed forever. Suppose some people want to read a month-by-month summary of the whole season, but other people want to read a summary of the whole Warwickshire team's season in one page. Then it might be legitimate to form these pages as set of transclusions (of individual matches). Pcb21| Pete 23:08, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
