however keeps on changing this article, please stop. The count's name was Charles de Croix Graf Clerfayt and as such he should be listed as well. the english translation is well... a translation, not the original. all french nobility is listed by their french names as well. The Austrian nobility is also listed by their german names, because some of their titles you just cannot translate into english (for example Carl Ritter von Ghega, there is no correct way to translate his name and title into english, otherwise he would have to be called Charles Knight of Ghega, which is absurd). so in order to keep it consistent, I suggest we keep the names in German and add the english name in the article itself as well, to avoid confusion. any search-function for Count Clerfayt will end up to him anyways. this wikipedia site might be in english, but he was not english, nor was his title. any suggestions otherwise are more than welcome... I presume you're talking about putting the article at another location. I am the one who has been reverting it because the blanking of this article and copying it to a different location is a violation of the GFDL. If you want to put this article somewhere else, sign up for an account and move the article. In this way is the history preserved. Cut and paste moves are not permitted on Wikipedia. ok got it, i will try it. thanks for the advice. Antares911 20:17, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I hereby nominate these efforts by User:Antares911 (currently Gryffindor) to rename articles and to make moves (including cut+paste moves), nominate to the inclusion to WP:BJAODN. These Gryffindor efforts, on surface, seem to fulfill criteria. 217.140.193.123 16:20, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

move to original name[edit]

It has been proposed below that François Sebastien Charles Joseph de Croix, Count of Clerfayt be renamed and moved to Charles de Croix Graf Clerfayt. requesting that this article be moved to the real name of the person. thanks Antares911 21:52, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • agree with proposal. Bhinneka 29 June 2005 13:33 (UTC)

Perhaps readers find it interesting that Bhinneka clearly is a sockpuppet of Antares911. 217.140.193.123 21:40, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. As this is English Wikipedia, there is no need to use German form of name of a guy who was a Walloon - and whose titulary "count of Clerfayt" was translated between languages all his life. Arrigo 22:05, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Are we going to move the Constable of Bourbon, (under Charles III, Duke of Bourbon), and Eugene of Savoy next? Wikipedia policy is clear: use English, and calling a Walloon Graf because he was in the Austrian service is neither English nor sensible. Septentrionalis 21:17, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Calling a Walloon by German titles is silly. john k 15:49, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. Dragons flight 02:47, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

We can of course argue ad nauseam whether Walloon is French or not, but at least it is quite close to French and it is definitely not German. 217.140.193.123 16:16, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

rename[edit]

I propose moving the article to François Sebastien Charles Joseph de Croix, according to WP:Naming conventions (people), which says: «[article titles should] not have additional qualifiers (such as "King", "Saint", "Dr.", "(person)", "(ship)"), except when this is the simplest and most NPOV way to deal with disambiguation.» --Waldir talk 19:23, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
