Welcome[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!

Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. SchuminWeb (Talk) 17:08, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I hope that I'm doing this right but apologize if I'm not.

I added the link to the Google group because I tried to contribute but someone keeps maliciously editing the page & adding false & slanderous remarks about the deceased Leslie Armstrong.

Anyone who listened to The Howard Stern Show on the day that Leslie first appeared, heard her explain that she had a Masters & had completed all but her thesis for her PhD & thus was a "therapist" NOT a "shrink" nor a "Doctor". Howard Stern said that he didn't care & was calling her "Doctor" & her show "Meet the Shrink". Also, she constantly explained such on SternFanNetwork.com as she posted almost daily on that site and responded to hundreds of PMs.

Also, she was never fired and in fact, they were trying to do another show with either "Joey Boots" or another person (I forget who).

This can all be verified by simple checks against MarksFriggin.com, SternFanNetwork.com & HowardStern.com. Thank you.

Decline reason:

this does not address abusive edits such as this. Article pages are separate from discussion pages. Additionally, your personal attacks are not tolerated here. See WP:NPA. — Yamla 01:14, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

So someone who continued to falsely & maliciously attacked a deceased person was ok, but my repeated attempts to clarify wasn't....

Thank you to the reasonable admin who finally changed the page to reflect the truth! --—Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.136.192.1 (talkcontribs)

Your edits to August 15[edit]

Dear 162.136.192.1,
Some of your edits on the page August 15 have been undone by PseudoBot, a robot built to keep the date pages tidy. The problems are:

The person you added doesn't seem to have a Wikipedia page.

If the page exists, check that you've spelled and capitalized the name the same way as the article, and try again. If it doesn't yet exist, read this page carefully before creating it. In particular, you shouldn't create a page about yourself or anyone you know personally. If this bot has got it wrong (as can unfortunately happen), please accept its author's apologies, and (if you would like) leave a message on this talk page with the details, so it can be improved. Hello 162.136.192.1. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Take What You Want".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Take What You Want}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 08:02, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, 162.136.192.1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Business owner's policy, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. SheepNotGoats (talk) 19:23, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to History of the New York Mets, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Metiscus (talk) 15:37, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not only does Roxy the dog bully and confuse the IP editor, but the user also deceives third-party Wikipedians watching the user_talk page. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 08:09, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as at Talk:Level of measurement, (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
