The highest amplitude of a sinc(x) is centered at the carrier frequency.

Definitions of centre frequency[edit]

This article completely misses another important use of the term "centre frequency"; namely that in comms applications, the centre frequency is defined as frequency of the unmodulated carrier, which is typically the arithmetic mean of the signal bandwidth (not the geometric mean).
