Timeline[edit]

Discussion[edit]

It would seem silly if all that the winner gets out of it is to release a single of the songs he performed on the show. While it may be good to bring back some old classics from time to time, combining an old classic with a cover isn't exactly demonstrating new/ongoing talent compared to bringing out something new. Is this really where the direct consequence of winning the show begins and ends?

At some point I think I got the impression that there was a shiny new recording contract awaiting the winner. But maybe I was imagining it. Even so, there ought to be at least one or two revived careers spun off from the show.

The final also seemed rather dumbed down. All they had to do was perform the same own classic that they did in the first round! Couldn't they think of something better, like performing a different cover, or maybe even another of their own songs? -- Smjg 17:00, 25 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Heat?[edit]

A "heat" is typically a term used in athletic competitions. Small sets of competitors compete in a "heat" for a chance to run/play/compete in the finals, exactly as this is set up. Transcendentalstate 22:41, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
