If the Yardbirds made Most steer clear of rock groups, why did he produce the Jeff Beck Group?

Because Jeff Beck had already signed a record deal with Mickie Most before Most quit the Yardbirds. On the other hand, there is also some dispute whether he did produce those Jeff Beck Group albums. Apparently Peter Grant claims it was him not Mickie Most who did the production work. Iam 03:49, Jan 22, 2004 (UTC)

Certainly makes sense. The JBG Truth album set a new standard for blues jamming on LP, and was much more in the Led Zep tradition. I remember that it came out on Epic in the USA long before it gained UK release. Most could well have been not keen! Wwwhatsup (talk) 02:52, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Foreshadow American Idol?[edit]

The text now says, "Most was a panelist on television talent shows such as ITV's New Faces where his tough assessments of contestants foreshadowed the style of Simon Cowell." I think that's not quite right. American Idol and the Simon Cowell role were not merely foreshadowed, rather, they were based on the Mickie Most role and the show he was in. I think the use of the word "foreshadowed" is the result of seeing American Idol then looking through the lens of times that minimizes what happened in the past.

Now I do not know this for sure but I suspect it after hearing a radio interview with Sharon Osbourne whose dad used to book major acts. So I'll leave this to others to go from here. Thanks. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 00:30, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mickie's house[edit]

Mickie's claim was that his house in Totteridge (described in an article about Mickie in the Sunday Times by Angela Levin) was the largest house built since the war, not that it was the largest house full stop. Even at the time, its value would have been closer to £20 million than £4 million.

Angela also described Mickie's daily exercise regime, which was quite remarkable and went on for about an hour and a half (Mickie had both a fully equipped gym and an indoor swimming pool in the house). if anyone still has a copy of that article, it has a lot of information.

Sea Cruise[edit]

Was this not a hit? I remember seeing him perform it on UK TV (Discs-A-Gogo) in the early 60s. Wwwhatsup (talk) 02:58, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article[edit]

The article is quite informative and flows well, with one exception. The insertion of Brenda Lee inbetween Herman's Hermits and then the further litany of 60's brit pop strikes me as awkward. I think she could be grouped into the next para with something like. Most also showed a predilection for American female singers, producing... " which would lead nicely into Suzie Q later on. I only want to quibble on one factual error. There was no Producer award at the 1964 Grammy Awards. Nor did "House of the Rising Sun" receive any nominations. This was a huge omission on NARAS' part, but facts are facts. Most never received a Grammy nomination. Nor did The Animals.
