Name of the Band[edit]

It's only in a parallel universe that the relatively bland, empty topic of Rilo Kiley's name deserves more weight and consideration than all the other details combined. Besides, the section is horribly Unwiki and doesn't contain a hard return to save its life. Are there any objections to my getting rid of 90% of the chaff there? --Coolhappysteve 15:35, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm totally for it. Wtf, you're not an indie rock band if you're from Los Angeles and signed to Warner Brothers.
While I agree it's not necessary to recount every variant in excruciating detail, it strikes me there's something encyclopedic in mentioning that there are many many stories about the name, that the band itself gives different stories (for whatever reason), and leaving it at that. Footnotes can give all the different ones if someone wants to do it that way. ++Lar: t/c 14:43, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of watering down the section on the name of the band, why not beef up the other sections. You're right, only in a parallel universe would the name be more important. However, why would you want to delete information that is relevant? I think the entire article needs to be expanded, and not watered down.--Shawn 15:20, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the line about Jenny Lewis's character being Kelly Reilly because, firstly, its tone was too personal; and secondly, it offered nothing more than loose speculation, suggesting only that the vaguely phonetically similar Kelly Reilly was the true inspiration without any claims from band members being cited or any explanation of how Kelly Reilly progressed to Rilo Kiley—a rather unusual jump to make. Name from a dream[edit]

I seem to remember that it's impossible to read anything in a dream, because you're left brain isn't active enough. I don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, I guess it shoots down that story. B.Mearns*, KSC 19:12, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think its pretty simple...you change the R for the K..and you have KILLO RILEY...or KILL O'REILY as in very much disliked Bill O'Reily...im kilo rileys political views differ greatly from Bill O'Riely

lol that's it for sure1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.186.64.155 (talk) 19:43, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whether from a dream or not, I'll eat a bug if Rilo Kiley is not simply a spoonerism from the name Kyle O'Reilly.

More Info[edit]

Could someone please add a little more info about this band? The whole article is pretty much just name speculation... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.226.249.31 (talk) 05:08, 12 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Any body know about his song Gin Sippin? I have the song but have no idea were it came from.

Don't know how to insert[edit]

One of their tracks (After Hours) was played in Science Of Sleep. Don't know how to reference this or anything. -- Lionfish

Ah, this band is pretttyyy good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.93.28.130 (talk) 14:46, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After Hours is actually by the Velvet Underground, Rilo Kiley just does a cover of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.89.118.88 (talk) 01:29, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Label[edit]

It says they're signed to saddle creek. Wasn't Under the Blacklight released under Warners? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.249.222 (talk) 19:28, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Currently no plans to make further recording[edit]

This statement is sourced with an interview of Jenny Lewis new band Jenny and Johnny. But no where in the interview is there a suggestion that Rilo Kiley currently has no plans to make future recordings. I believe this should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.115.2.175 (talk) 20:13, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
