OMG Pronunciation is so bad![edit]

I changed the pronunciation from SEE-us (not bothered to use IPA at the moment) to KOY-us. Here is my reasoning:

Koios is the Greek, and Coeus is the Latinization of the Greek. So right off the bat, you can see that SEE-us is wrong : The Greek is KOY-ose (arguably - there are many pronunciations of that last -os, but the KOY part is pretty standard for all Greek dialects)

C is ALWAYS K in classical Latin, only CH before AE, OE, E, I or Y in Church Latin (which experts say is wildly divergent from actual pronunciations used by Latin and even Vulgar Latin speakers).

OE is pronounced OY in classical, sometimes AY in very late classical, and EH in Church.

So, KOY-us, maybe KAY-us or even CHEH-us, but NOT SEE-us, NOT KEE-us, not any of the other weird variations I've seen here.

Comments[edit]

"Coeus rocks the Greek Gods." Should this be in the article? I don't think so, but I have to admit I laughed when I read it. --134.173.86.91 21:48, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That whole section needs to be removed as it is wildly incorrect. I did it myself but was told to be more careful in my editing. (Doesn't Wikipedia policy say be bold?) Anyway, the section needs to go. It's wrong and isn't written like an encyclopedia article Jupiterzguy 15:58, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, nobody has said anything so I'm deleting that section.Jupiterzguy

Coeus as a God of Intelligence[edit]

I think that the idea of Coeeus as some kind of god of intelligence is a totally modern idea. Unless anybody has any evidence that this Titan was in any way conected with intelligence in the ancient worls then this statement should be removed.

Also - good resource that says he was associated with oracles, which would be intelligence in a spy/analyst sort of sense: http://www.theoi.com/Titan/TitanKoios.html Graidan (talk) 16:44, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
