I thought we didn't use "diacritical marks" in article titles becuse of searching problems. The normal way, used in Norwegian as well as English, of rendering the letter Å is by Aa. That's what most Norwegians would search on in an English text. All the other locations in this article use Aa. I think the Norwegians use Å in all these cases, but I don't know for sure. I think the aversion against language-specific characters such as Norwegian Æ - Ø - Å is a relic of the early computer age when systems really balked when trying to process these non-standard characters. I'm not sure how much difference four-and-a-half years (since the above entry was submitted) has made on the perception of this issue, but I do sense that it is generally accepted today to let the system handle also these characters without any user intervention. __meco 21:27, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a problem now, and wasn't a problem in 2003 for browsers etc. to render characters which are not part of the base ASCII character set. He raises a valid point as to searching, but that has, as far as I can tell been solved here, by using a redirect from Aafjord to this article. Jerazol 05:46, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
